Hi i am about to change the oil on a Lexus GS300 1996

I have a filter, and oil.

Do I just un do the drain plug. drain,

take filter off

I gave the garage new washer for the drain plug last time, do I need to change it this time ?

Yes as easy as that. They hold about 5 1/2 litres and do use a new sump plug washer.

Thanks,

Done,

I noticed the oli needed changing when the engin would not start properly, about 4 times I tried to satrt and it woul;d not.

I thought it was the Battery, then the starter motor but it turned out it was low oil.

The first turn of the key would do very little (but I guess forced oil where it needed to go)

The engin just did not turn over at all, not even much of a rotation once…

after that it would start fine…

My worry is how much damage did that (or could that ) do ?
