Service Help

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I have IS200 54 Reg and I am not sure what should be included in the service of my car. Here is the detail of work done in my last full service

Milage 37K (6.5 year old)- Feb 2010

1-Oil changed

2-Air filter

3-Oil Flush

4- Air Filter

5-Pollen Filter

6- Spark Plugs

but I had some interim work done in Oct 2010 which include

Milage 42K (7 year)- Oct 2010

1- Timing belt , water pump etc changed

2- brake discs and pads

3- Break fluid

3- Oil and Oil filter changed!

Now since my car has done only 2-3K miles since Oct 10 I am not sure is it worth doing another interim service (as last full service was done on Feb-10).

Could you please advise me if I need another service now? what should be included in this service if required?

I dont do much milage and in next 6 month I am expecting upto 4k max milage. Since Oil has been changed in Oct I am thinking to do a full service in Oct 11 if that is OK?

Thanks for your help.

Cheers

PS: do I need to change Power steering oil? My steering feels dry in the morninng when i start the car or it could be anything else.

Hi your car seems well maintained , and as the oil and filter was changed last October ,you will be OK with a oil and filter change in Oct2011 ; it may also be worth changing the gear box and axle oil at the same time as the car is 8 years old ,everything else has been covered ,as I presume new coolant and antifreeze will have been added when the water pump was changed .

You can change the power steering fluid ,it won't do any harm but it may not improve anything . I can't understand what you mean by 'dry' ,you could check the power steering belt tension as it may be slipping ,but if the level is OK I can't suggest anything else

I asked my local service guy to check out the gearbox and diff oil on my 57K mile IS200. He came back to me to say it was still good and a waste of money changing it. The car still drives very smoothly with no funny noises. He claims that IS200's don't break.
