I will be picking up my new to me 55 plate IS250 SEL next week so I have been surfing your forums for the last fortnight tryng to educate my myself.Having owned a 2003 Honda Accord Executive for a few years,I think it is a shame that the satnav in my new car will not allow programming whilst on the move. Admittedly my Honda has an updated disc(copy from ebay), but it has always let me adjust my destinations on the move. Honda charge £180 for updated discs and only allow a 4 digit potcode entry but it has never let me down.

Having driven Hondas for the last 8 years, I am hoping my expectations of the IS250 are fulfilled because it is such a beautiful machine.

When do the new versions of the updates come out, and what version should I be looking to buy?

Thanks for your help in advance from your newest member.

You can check for updates here http://www.lexus-mapupdates.eu/ . The discs available for 2008 onwards allow use of the satnav system on the move. They come as a set of four, even though you may only need the one covering the UK. Loading a later disc will unlock the system so that once you have loaded a later disc, the system can be used on the move if you then reload your original disc (in case you know someone with a later version that you can borrow).

I have a 55 SEL with MM and quite honestly I would not dream of updating the satnav as the only bits missing on the map are the new AI in North Yorks and obviously any new roads round about where you are, and lets be honest there arent many new roads ! Other members have commented that the Lexus disk is £650 and others who have bought on eBay etc are never very happy with their purchase. Just drive the car and enjoy it Im sure you wont be disappointed with either the car or the sat nav.

Rubbish. I paid £140 for the updated set of 4 discs for my 55 IS250 SE-L covering all of Europe, and it allowed operation on the move.

I also updated the satnav disc in my Is200 from the same site that I posted the link for.

That sounds like rubbish to me too! I have never heard that the Sat Nav discs are £650! I managed to pick an E11 (version number) set from a member on here for £80 a while back and that allowed changes to be made on the move. Its more than worth updating just for that. Just stay away from the cheap eBay copies or any sites that offer update discs for less than half price.

Hope you enjoy the car. They are lovely. We have 2 :winky:

I too had driven a Honda Accord for 8 years before switching to an IS250 four years ago. Although the Honda was a fine car, the IS250 is waaaaay better.

You won't be disappointed.
