Stereo - Error3

Recommended Posts

I've removed the whole unit and removed the cd's from the stereo however now it just whips back to the Radio and does not allow me to insert or reject anything. I used to have the error3 message display and whip back to radio again. I've removed the fuse and Battery to see if this would resolve the issue but still nothing. Is it completely dead now and time to buy a new radio? How much are Lexus charging for replacements?

Update: I have managed to get the CD's to play however when you insert a new CD you can hear a clicking sound and then they disapear. Does anyone have any diagrams of inside the actual CD player as I think this is fixable. I am back in the position where I cannot reject CD's now.

I had all these problems with mine, so in the end I took the whole unit out and replaced it with a JVC DAB single DIN unit and bypassed the amp in the passenger footwell.

I don't think there is a quick or permanent fix for these original units, other than replacement.

Probably not what you want to hear.

One alternative is to use an iPod instead - I haven't put a CD in for years. £60 for a Grom Audio iPod adaptor, invisible fit behind head unit and 12,000 tracks at my fingertips and it also charges the iPod. And sounds fantastic

Providing you have an iPod, of course.

Take the whole unit out again, remove the 4 screws that hold the top lid in place, go back to car and conect unit back up, try to eject cd's now you can see what stopping them comming out.

I find that once you get error3 the cd holders in the unit have become out of line inside and need to be re-alined again, try to manualy wind the holders back to the bottom of the unit when you get the cd's out.

Hope this helps.
