Front Suspension Creaking And Clunking

Hi,

I have a X reg IS200 which has only covered 68k. I have previously owned a few IS200's and highly rate these cars. However my current IS is causing me a few issues as it does not feel as sure footed as my previous IS's.

The front shock absorbers and the lower ball joints were changed before I bought the car. However the front suspension on the driver side does clunk when it goes over a pot hole and creaks.

I decided to get the car checked by Lexus, (which they did FOC). This is what they said

  • Near side front track rod end has play
  • Off side top ball joint has play
  • Both front camber bolts allowing movement
  • Caster control bushes perished
  • Rear top wishbone bushes perished

If I get the work done by Lexus, it would cost more than the car is worth. I want to get a second opinion but do not know of any good garages that I could go to in Essex / London.

I want to get repaired what is essential and live with what can be seen as acceptable wear & tear or get advice on where to get the work done without it costing a bomb.

Thanks

Ash

Try Westfield Motors in Rayleigh. I've been taking my car there for 5 years now and never had any problems. The mechanics are ex Lexus so know the cars inside out.
