Could anybody tell me the correct tyre size (from the factory) for my 1997 LS 400?

Is it 225 or 245..?. Ive only had the car two weeks after owning xj8's for the past 6 yrs. I loved my Jags but cant believe how much better the Lexus is! (thats sad to say but true) My car has done 153.000 miles and drives like a magic carpet! I would never have purchased a jag with this kind of mileage, but for a Lexus it seems pretty low.. A Jag would be at the end of its life. (ive had 4 xj's) Im loving the Lexus and cant see myself going back to any other big luxury bargain motor. Other than a LS 430 Cheers Gav.

Welcome Gav,

I too have owned several Jags and the Lexus really is in a different league, isn't it?

Tyre size - for the standard 16" wheels the factory size is 225/55

Its so much better in so many ways....I cant believe how silent the car is! It makes the Jag feel like a cortina! I never use to like Lexus. they did nothing for me at all.

Then i had a drive of an old guys LS.....i was left gobsmacked...

Thanks for the tyre info.

Gav.

I have heard trough the forums the 430 is not as good as the 400 ,more tech but bad ride,as for the tires 245s seem to be a favourite.

I have had BMW 7s and a few Rangerovers but the Lexus has suprised me so much

I thought the mk3 (95-97) and mk4 (98-00) had same tire sizes?

checked in my hand book for mk4 - 225/60 R16 (97W or better)

I was fairly sure my mk3 ran on 225/60/16's too - remeber buying a new set of the japanese D8Z's for it.

but that was ages ago now so cant be sure.

Not been in a 430 but like the look of the inside....I wont be going back to Jaguar i dont think. Everytime i get in my LS it just feels so good...the silence, the gearbox, the silky V8.....Maybe save up for a 460.
