Battery Dead

hi guys i have a 1996 lexus gs300 sport mk1. i dont use this car much.i start the car up twice a week on a wednesday and a saturday .on the saturday i take the car for a 5 mile run.but what is happening now is when i start the car it only just turns over and fires up like the Battery is flat.i have had a new alternator fitted a year and a half ago and i had anew Battery fitted november 2011.have i got a problem or is it because the car is not getting used.

any help would be most gratedull.

I do very short runs and small mileage each week and was finding that Battery was low .

My warning sign was alarm going off in middle of night inside my garage.

Decided to run it on motorway for about 20 miles or so each week and now no problems with Battery.

When using it on short trips, make sure no a/c, hrw, seat heaters, sunroof etc etc are used as these will drain Battery.

Yeah, I agree that a 5 minute drive isn't enough to fully top up a slowly depleting Battery level. A better run each week should sort it.
