Help Programming Remote Fob

I have a 1996 LS400, I have changed the Battery on my fob. My fob is the type with only 2 buttons on, a lock/unlock button & panic button. Since doing this the car does not recognise my fob, I have been online and have found the key fob sequence's. I have followed this sequence to the letter, and it gets to the stage where the car locks and unlocks itself, but then when holding the lock button down on the remote nothing happens. I have repeated that stages many times but when it comes to the remote doing its bit nothing happens.

any ideas and no I don't have another fob.

My 1995 fob has 3 buttons + the alarm one on the reverse.

The 3 are : Lock, Unlock, and Boot release.

Should yours be the same .... is your car a Mk 3 ?

Hi Malc yes its a mk3 1996 but I only have 2 buttons on mine one for locking /unlocking and one panic button

Maybe, just maybe, you have the incorrect fob and whilst it worked ok before it's not now re-programmable.

Sorry I don't know, just a thought.

Not that this much use other than to confirm my mk3 also has, lock unlock & boot release on one side, and panic button on the reverse side.

I have a Mk3 fob which I don't need as had a new alarm system fitted. Did offer it up on eBay last year but had no takers and so happy to pass it on for you to try and programme and if it works you are welcome to it. It is the same fob as described above.
