Rx400H Battery

Recommended Posts

Hi I'm new to the site so go easy on me. I used to have an X5 which was stolen so I m in the market for a new 4x4. I am interested in an RX400h, a guy I work with swears by Lexus and has just bought his third. The only thing that puts me off are stories about the small auxiliary Battery going flat that starts it. I might leave the car at an airport from time to time for upto a week, maybe two and I've read some horror stories about not being able to unlock them etc. Have any of you experienced any problems, seems such a shame as the car gets great reviews for everything else. I am after a 2007/8 so I could insist on a new Battery as part of the deal. I'm not keen on setting up solar panels and trickle charging etc, if I pay 15-17k for a used car want to know it will start. Should I be worried? Your feedback and views would be appreciated. Thanks

If you use the search function you will find that this has been covered ad nauseam - you will probably learn more by this means than will be repeated in another new thread on the subject.

There is a problem which affects some cars, a new Battery might be of minor use BUT a flat Battery can occur at any time. You will need to factor this minor issue into your thoughts.

I understand that if you pay £15k for a car you want it to start, but people weren't getting that when spending £45k :)

A Lexus dealer would just put on a new standard OEM Battery which would have the same problem. Best to just get the Bosch aftermarket option which has a slightly higher capacity which should give a few more days on standby. They are around £55 from Eurocarparts
