One Of Those Days, Please Help...

Recommended Posts

Went to start the SportCross this morning, nothing, no lights, not even a hint of starter motor. Had the windscreen replaced on Saturday, but I can't see how that would affect anything. Bizarrely it jumpstarted immediately from my wife's Yaris, hooked it up and it fired up at once. I decided to take the jump leads to work, put them in the boot and now that won't open! Just to cap it off, after a 16 mile journey to work, the fuel light came on, although that's enough to make it home.

My main concern is the boot not opening. Is there a fuse that's gone, or something more sinister? I have horrendous luck with car batteries, 10 batteries in 12 years.

It's time to get it checked for Battery drain. However, once a Battery has been flattened it's never the same again. They're not designed to be flattened.

I've read that the screens can be a real pain to fit and if not done correctly will leak. This unfortunately may be your problem, especially as it all seems to have happened after that point. Defo get that checked before its too late.

Regarding the boot, I'm guessing they're electric release like the saloon. But my saloon has a pull release lever by the fuel filler release. Has the sport cross got one? What about the good old key? I can use one on the boot, however I believe it can only be the master key.

Alternatively it could just be a dodgy Battery!

Yes theres a wee opening lever behind a removable panel on the sportcross, you have to let down the back seats and shimmy back to it to release the tailgate.
