Daft Cabin Filter Question (1997 Mk Iii)

Recommended Posts

I checked my cabin filter at the weekend and it was filthy, so I ordered a new one from Eurocarparts yesterday (they do Jap parts too) and it came today. BTW - they have a 30% discount offer on filters at the moment - enter 30NOW at checkout.

The old one had an arrow with UP^ printed on the side, the new one has an arrow to show the direction of airflow. I am guessing by the state of the old filter that the airflow direction is from top to bottom (seeing as the old filter was full of bits of leaves on the top of the panel).

So daft question, I presume the new filter actually needs the arrow pointing down, to indicate the direction of the airflow, rather then the other way up ?

Cheers in advance,

Daniel.

Just changed the filter on my 600h and the arrow on the filter indicates the way it should be fitted. ie, arrow up, according to the manual.

I did not read the manual correctly before fitting and used a lot of force to get it out. I should have set the air to recirculate not outside air. Don't know if Iv'e done any damage.

Airflow is top to bottom so arrow pointing down makes sense.

Cheers :)

BTW - signed up for gold membership today... presume there's a manual process to link it to my username ?

Yes Steve on admin will sort it out when he gets a minute.

Providing you didn't hear the sound of broken plastic or saw bits falling out you should be OK, I think there is a servo motor control flap which directs the air source and has to be on recirculate to clear the filter on removal.
