Annoying Banner

How can I get rid of the gallery/news banner that pops up as it just lingers in the middle of the screen and is slow to move on my ipad.

Agree with you it's a pain in the backside .....had to log on again n flipping banner was right across the username and password bit

Just click on the white arrow on the right of the facebook symbol to hide it.

It also depends on the browser and the settings - keeps re-appearing. Very annoying.

Yeah, I find Safari a bit pants so use "Atomic Browser". You can get it to display as standard browser rather than mobile device, which is especially useful on the iPad with the bigger screen (less so on the Iphone but does help where the mobile version of some sites are particularly poor). Tabbed browsing is also much better in Atomic. I have stopped using loc on the iPad due to these bars. I can understand the advertising revenue helps to alleviate costs of running large sites like LOC, but surely there must become a point where the members ability to use the site should come above the poorly deigned advertising mechanisms?
