Well i drove to hayling Island for my stay in a warner hotel, but was looking forward to the drive in my 460 more than the actual holiday. I wasn't disappointed according to the trip computer my mpg was 29.7 which I'm more than happy with, considering I was on the odd occasion slightly over the speed limit. I also chose the longest route which I will be taking when I go back home. I put my foot down for the first time on the way here,I was doing about 55 wow as you can imagine my foot wasn't there long. I am still trying to find out about this other Lexus ls 460 that is a unengaging drive any help would be appreciated

I think the same about my journeys in my LS400 ............. and the two before ...... have never not wanted a long trip .......... just the best motoring one could imagine ......... 10 years of almost faultless motoring over many miles and I so really really enjoyed my recent 2888 mile round trip touring Scotland.

Hopes I can continue with this decadent luxury.

Not an LS, but I recently had to make the journey from London to Leeds, and then back again same day. I've done it a few times, in various cars (once in an RS Turbo - fast, but not fun! - once in a Transit Connect van - very boring! - and once in a Ford Escort Si with a noisy wheel bearing!). Normally I'm tired after the drive up, but a drive back on the same day is a killer, and I'm exhausted when I get in.

Not so in the IS. It might be ten years old, and only have a 2L, not particularly fast, engine, but the 454 mile journey was a breeze. Thank god I put the armrest in it recently! Cruised up, cruised back, and even with a few "higher than legal" sections, it returned 30mpg. I was still awake for over an hour when I got home at 1:30am, after originally setting off at 8:30am that morning. Can't complain about that!

Had a trip to Portsmouth yesterday. Was it you causing the congestion on the A3 :whistling:

Isn't it amazing that after owning a car for year after year when you go to get in it you still have that excitement you first had when you first acquired the greatest car there is. Most other cars I have ever owned had long lost their appeal for me by then and many had lost it after just a couple of months. Long may it continue. Mike
