It should be fitted on the air intake pipe between the air filter box and the engine.

Something like this.

If you don't have a problem I would leave alone, they are very delicate but if you want to clean get some solvent spray ( NOT WD40), spray it on and then leave to dry naturally don't poke it with a brush or anything as you will damage the wire.

Hi All

Does anyone know how much a MAF is for the IS220d, as the cleaning theory is widely regarded as an 'old wifes tale' and for piece of mind I would rather get a new one - depending on the price?

Also, are they easy to get to on the IS, as BMW ones tend to require the removal of a number of other items and it takes a while and requires tools I just don't have?
