I have a is 200 with rear brake backplates corroded

Question do the hub bearings come off the rear stub unit as a single item allowing me to change the backplates by the simple method of undo replace and fit new plates refit shoes discs etc.

Or do the bearings fall apart and need new fitted?

Thanks chunky

The bearings are press fixed into the hub carrier with the oil seal at the rear and a circlip on the outer face so once you have removed the split pin and castelated nut it should all come to pieces to allow access to the backplates without disturbing the bearing.

Sorry cannot post diagram due to copyright but the back plates are as follows from Lexus.

Plate Sub Assy Parking Brake RH ( Driver's side) Part no. 46503-30090

Plate Sub Assy Parking Brake LH ( Pass Side) Part no. 46504-30090.

Are you sitting comfortably, now the price!

Around £200.00 EACH from Lexus!

If I were you I would invest £30.00 in becoming a Gold LOC member and find a dealer offering Gold discount on parts, even with 10% you'll be a tenner up!
