Boot And Prams ..... And Does The Kid Fit :-)

Recommended Posts

Hi

pondering at a is250 , but being a farther of a 18 month old , my worry is boot space for a pram etc , having a missus who collects buggys like new shoes . we have a quinny buzz and a maclaren stroller type .

how do all you cope ? is it a easy fit ? I know i need to try for fit , but i thought i would ask first . is there enough room for the kid in the back ?

Jon

ps - Daft question is there isofix connectors in the back (car i would look at would be a early one 55 plate up)

hi mate

I had a 220d with a young child and never had any problems.

My small gripe would be the back seat is set back slightly so I had to lean in more to buckle her in... but thats it really.

The boot quite a good size, never had issues with pushchairs.

Betst go for a test drive and try and add the pushchair in and see how it fits

Cheers for replys , it's always good to get opinions from real users . Your right a test drive is the only way to find out , the trouble is my local dealer , lexus Chester (although spot on , as used before for service etc) are shut on Sundays and that's the only day my missus and myself can get there in daylight .

Just hang out in tesco car park, an is will park up before too long then you just approach the owner and ask if you can try your pram for size in there boot.

Don't forget to film ths too as I'd love too see there reaction..lol

I've never known a dealer shut on Sundays! Take a trip up to Stockport, they will help you out.

Hi

The dealer is owned by one man called mark Mitchell (he also has skoda and Mazda on the same site) he is a bit of a religious family man who believes that family's should spend at least one day together , brave move as it must cost him business , well in fact it did , it cost him the mitsi dealership years ago , may have been a blessing as he then got lexus

This topic made me smile, years ago when one of mine was a baby I had an Austin Allegro and a rather large Silver Cross coachbuild pram.

The pram body went onto the back seat with the baby in it, no laws about child seats then of course.

The wheels when folded down went on the roof rack!!!!!

So provided you're not considering the above car you'll be fine. :hohoho:

Oh yeah now you're talking. Ditto with the Allegro... An estate, in antique gold with the most hideous gear stick every designed! Prior to that there were 3 Morris 1000's, one of them a traveller. By the late 70's we really thought we had made it with the Renault 5 TS. Our boys went everywhere in those cars, even as far as Perpignan in southern France! Took the Morris 1000 up to Mont Louis, an Olympic altitude training village in the Pyrennes. Frogs were tickled pink to see me retard the ignition and start her with the starting handle..can't remember the altitude...but it was pretty high and rare.

Happy to say we all came thru all the adventures with no mishaps.

Don't get me wrong I would not go back to those cars...they were rubbish by today's standards, the brakes, sychromesh, lights, heater, etc. I'll keep my 250 thank you!

Memories eh normski2! I had an Allegro, somewhere around 1972 I think it was, Can't remember the exact colour but i do recall that it was something like an avocado, bloody awful and oh that square steering wheel too!

Had a Morris 1000 too, even remember the reg. 3308 RF and the whine from the axle is lodged firmly in the memory.

Lol, I feel a bit younger now. My first car was an escort mk3 5 door hatch. It had heaters and a stereo and seemed amazing at the time. It was either that or a cortina ghia( y reg). My dad urged me that the 1.3 lt escort made more sense. He was probably right. That was the slippery slope of cars and a big hole to pour money in ever since.

I gave always loved either sports cars or luxury. I've done a few years of fast cars so have settled back into luxury for a few years. Who knows, maybe ill go is- f next, best of both worlds I'd imagine.

Escort Mk3 with stereo and heaters........luxury! Blimey we had to lick the road clean before we could drive down it! (Slight homage to Monty Python there.)

Merry Christmas everyone, have a good one and a terrific new year.

From a grandparent's perspective: Yes, the IS 250 does have Isofix anchor points in the rear (both sides) and, yes, a buggy does fit in the boot although it takes a bit of manipulating to get all the wheels in. It's worth investing in seat protectors for under the child seat as even the best children/grandchildren have recessive Vandal/Visigoth genes and, even if they don't, they ALL have a projective vomiting tendency. Down memory lane..... Before grandchildren were even on the horizon, I had a Morris Montego Estate and this was great for packing in 4 kids and vast amounts of luggage. The IS250 has nowhere near that capacity but neither does it have that loud hissing noise as its metalwork converts to rust!
