Hi im Rick from Manchester and drive a Lexus IS200 Auto im not keen on the Auto box and would prefer a Manual.Is the Manual Lexus IS200 a common car or are they mostly Autos

Is it? I thought the auto was more common as when I was looking for my IS they all seemed to be SE Auto's.

Welcome along Rick.

Only had mine a few weeks but when I was looking round I couldn't find any auto's, just manuals.

Now with the consumption with the little sewing machine with a manual box I'd dread to think what it gobbles with a slush box....

I filled the thing up and it's now showing 260 miles and its on the one before last line on the fuel gauge...

Still a pretty car so that makes up for it for now.

See I told you I'd be wrong! Out of curiousity I just went on Autotrader and yes nearly all of them for sale are manuals! Why did I have such a problem finding a manual then?? Lol...

Anyway enjoy owning a Lex Rick. :)

Are there no coding issues converting it to a manual? I don't know where the mileage is stored on these but usually the VIN needs to be changed in at least two modules.

Somebody on this forum has actually done this. I can't find the thread at the moment. I'll search again. He was having big problems tho, he said everything was fitted as it should be but just wouldn't go into gear!

Dont think its straight forward, different wiring looms, would need clutch pedal and reservoir and all piping, new clocks,interior trim,ecu.ect. also is the diff a different ratio for manual?

Can't see it being a big issue, short of the obvious parts needed....

Gearbox

Clutch

Flywheel

Prop

Clutch pedal, cylinder and line

Trim around gear selector

Instrument cluster

The big issue is tricking the auto ecu to think the car is in neutral, which is a simple modification, looking at the manual and auto ecu pin outs there are only a couple of differences,

But, if you was going to do it I would just buy a crashed manual and swap everything over.......much simpler, and could easily be done within a day......including the loom!,

It would be easier just to change the ecu and engine bay loom and transponder

I have all the parts you would need apart from ecu, including a sport diff with lsd. All the above parts for £280
