Hi could any one help me out .

I have a 2004 RX300 and have just replaced the batterys in the 2 keys .

Now only one of the keys will unlock and lock the doors! the keys will still start the car.

Can the key be reset to the car

if it is like all Toyotas then it is simple - just push both the lock and unlock buttons on the key together at the same time, near the car, and it re-synch's the key with the car.

here you go being as your'e new....LOL

  1. Open the driver's door and close all other car doors. Put the key in the ignition, then remove it.

  2. 2

Press the door lock switch to "Lock." Within one second, press it to "Unlock." Repeat this step until all the car doors have locked and unlocked five times.

  3. 3

Close the driver's door, then reopen it. Press the door lock switch to "Lock" again, then within one second press it to "Unlock." Repeat until the door locks have cycled five times again.

  4. 4

Put the key in the ignition and turn it to "On," then to "Off" within one second. Do this once to enter add mode, twice for rewrite mode, three times for confirmation mode and five times for prohibition mode. If you entered confirmation mode, the door locks will cycle once for every remote programmed. If you selected another mode, the locks will cycle the same number of times that you turned the key.

  5. 5

Press the "Lock" and "Unlock" buttons on the transmitter for 1.5 seconds. Release them and within three seconds, then press and hold any button on the transmitter for one second. The door locks will cycle once if you have done everything correctly. If you have not, the locks will cycle twice.

  6. 6

Close the driver's door to finish programming.

Thanks a lot. This is more complicated that I thought.

If one of the key is not responding after the battery replacement, is this considered ADD MODE? (adding one key to the system)

Careful! - If you mess up one step, the self destruct sequence will initiate and your cherished Lexus will blow up within 1 minute.

Still, you will have the key to remember it by.

(Can I have first refusal on your key? - the casing of mine is cracked!)
