Tyres Please Gentlemen

Recommended Posts

Recently had fitted 4 Dunlop Sport Maxx TT tyres (215/ 45/17).

The drive quality has dropped like a stone. It has gone from a smooth ride to feeling every bump. Have I just made a poor tyre choice?
(I have tried lowering the psi from 33 down to 30 will no improvement).

Help!
Cheers.

The clue was in the Tyre brand. it had 'Sport Maxx' printed on it so it was not designed with 'Comfort' in mind from the get go. its meant to give grip and take the car in corners with more speed. in other words its a performance Tyre and not a 'Comfort' tyre so unfortuntely you will feel every bump as its meant to help the driver feel the connection to the road more compared to a non performace one. I feel every bump with my Falken Azenis but I am assured rear grip when i take a corner with my foot down. so if you put comfort high in your day to day driving then looks like you might need to ditch these Sport tyres for non sport ones unfortunately.

Hello noby76.

Thank you for confirming my suspicions. I will keep with the tyres for the time being due to the desire not to waste money. I take your point about the name yet how is one to know when tyre names ( as with most items), are designed to sell rather than inform? ...are well you live and learn.

All the best to you Lexus Owners. :zorro:
