I have noticed that whilst following my satnav instructions it seems to know of pending traffic jambs and road works. It's also spot on.

In puzzles how it knows what appears to be live traffic conditions. Can anyone clarify.

Gets it from radio traffic updates. There is a setting for it in a menu somewhere.

Found it worked a treat going around the north circular in London.

Ah, that would explain. That's still pretty clever and works rather well.

Another mystery solved thanks Normski2.

Clever stuff isn't it?

That Radio Data System (RDS) is marvellous.

You might like to know this as well.

The sat nav gets its traffic data from Classic FM

I don't think you even need to tune to this station.

The sat nav finds it automatically.

So irrelevant really I suppose!

But you do need to always have the RDS- TMC indicator displayed

on your screen.

Top left area on mine - MY11 F-Sport

To get the RDS- TMC indicator to display.

"Show traffic icons" in SET UP/TRAFFIC must be active.

That is to say, all on or some icons selected.

Does that help and make sense?
