Digital Music Changer For Is200

Recommended Posts

I need MP3 playback in my car, but do not want to fit an aftermarket stereo - I like to keep things original. My question is, can I assume that ALL IS200 stereos have the CD Changer port required to plug in the Digital Music Changer (like the Yatour - http://www.yatourcarkits.com/older-lexus-usb-sd-aux-mp3-interface-adapter-yatour-p-153.html ) ?

My stereo is exactly the same as the one in this youtube video - with the cd slot (6-loader) at the bottom and tape deck on top

Will this work in my car? Do I have the neccessary ports? If so, will I be able to see more than 6 folders on the USB flash disk? Anybody here used something similar to this?

What you need to get your hands on is a Grom kit, they sell for around £60+ you can get them for iphone/ipods, usb flash drive or Bluetooth.

It is as easy as the vid shows to install one of these, around 10 mins and you'll have mp3 music playing through your standard stereo.

As for folders i think your limited to around 99, but have a look here, http://www.gromaudio.co.uk/tag/Lexus

I love grom but cant justify paying £110 quid and thats not even the Bluetooth one. You can get equiv for half price

Buy second hand. I got my Grom for £40. Even if I buy the BT add-on for £50 brand new, it's still only £90 total

this is very good. ill keep my eye out. I do like that the GROMs are android compatible as im android. seems like its a unique feature of theres

Thanks for the advice guys - I'll ask my installer if he is able to get a GROM for me. Never heard of them, so I doubt they sell them in my neck of the woods.

No can do :-(

I'll have to install the Yatour......which seems to be ok. Doesnt cost an arm and a leg as well.

I'd love to get a touch screen double-din unit with Bluetooth.....but dont want to take away the OEM look of the Dash.....

This is the one I have in the garage:

http://www.ipodcarkitdirect.co.uk/Lexus_-_DICE__iPod_Car_Kit

However, on the compatability page it doesn't mention the IS200/300.....

It does. it says IS300. which basically means IS200 also...

edit. says 2005 - 2009. oops. not sure in that case

Went to the sound shop yesterday.........my head unit does NOT have the CD changer port :-( Hmmmmmm....Strange!

Anyway, I guess that leaves me no choice but to buy a double-din touch screen unit - and I REALLY wanted to keep the dash looking stock :-(

The guy in the sound shop did. He removed it.....took it to the back, had a look , came back and said there's not much he can do for it as it does not have a shuttle port. I thought that was weird because my radio looks exactly the same as the one in the youtube link I posted......

Mine is a 6-disc in-dash, single slot, cd-changer. Are the others capable of loading 6 cd's in the single slot PLUS have a cd-changer port at the back??

Ok....I will do that. I was so silly, I should have taken a pic of the back of the unit when the sound dude had it out :-(

I'm very good at breaking clips, so I'm afraid to touch anything :-(

Does yours have the seperate amplifier behind the glovebox? If so they are controlled by the Toyota AVC-LAN as are the disk changers. So if you have a seperate amp you more than likely have the disk changer port. The disk changer port however is used for the above, so some of the kits come with a breakout lead so you can connect both the amp control and cd changer control into the same plug at the back of the stereo.

Thanks for the vote of confidence guys. I'll give it a shot this weekend. I leave early for work and get home late.

I doubt mine has an amplifier - here in SA we only had one IS200 imported. There were no derivatives like you guys have. Later they introduced the IS300 before the Gen 2's were released. Back when the Gen 1 was released, Lexus did not have a presence in SA. They were imported, sold and serviced by Toyota SA. I suspect we only had the entry level IS200's here....

entry level in uk, had no amp, but then it also had no sunroof, no half leather heated seats and 16" wheels, does yours have any of those originally?
