Hi All New Ls400 Owner Here

Recommended Posts

Hi all

I just recently traded a Volvo v70 for a 98 ls400

All I can say is that this is the best car I've ever had and I've had a few!

I have one question is the check engine light supposed to come on with the ignition?

When I turn on the ignition no engine light comes on

Thanks in advance

I noticed that too

Does anyone have a picture of the location of the engine management light on a MK4

When I bought mine I was worried that someone may have taken the bulb out

Mine doesn't come one when the ignition is switched on either

Hi and welcome to the LOC.

I am sure my EM light comes on when you first turn on ignition and then goes out once engine has started. I will check for certain in the morning.

Engine light does not illuminate on first key turn on the Mark 4, if it does there is a problem.

Hi Steve, welcome to the Club!

Ambermarine is absolutely right. I have both a Mk 3 and a Mk4 and have just compared both. The engine light DOES go on in the Mk 3 but the same does NOT happen on the Mk 4. I hadn't noticed until now. Ignorance is bliss, I suppose!

Thanks everyone for putting my mind at rest.

I still can't get over how smooth and quiet these cars are!

The one thing I really can't stand in a car is road and wind noise, that's why I have been through nine cars in 4 years

Please don't tell friends and family, we try to keep it a secret.

Does anyone know what OBD tester will work for a MK4 Lexus

I havve tried 2 so far and none of them work.

Are there any cheap ones like ELM327 that will work or is it going to have to be a Bosch KTS or Snap On

Lol no worries, all my friends think I'm mental for having a 4 litre car, what they don't realise is that it is slightly more economical than my previous Volvo v70

and I would say that with a car so cheap to buy that does not fall apart every month, what you spend on petrol (unless you do silly mileage) will be less than going for a younger car that is not built to withstand the appalling roads of the UK.

LS400 is the cheapest car I have ever run, in the last 30 years (not that I would buy a Lexus brand new - but would love to try a GS450h)
