I had an IS200 auto and always used it, or for most of the time anyway, drove it in drive selection on the box - I heard of recommendations that driving it for distances using the "gears" or long periods using them would damage the box.

Is this the case with the 250? Can this be driven exclusively using the paddles or is it recommended to as with the IS200 keep this to a minimum.

Petrol consumption would be higher but would it cause damage to the auto box?

I have used the paddles from time to time. As far as I am aware you will do no damage using the paddles for long periods. It can be quite good fun...and actually return a better mpg as you have more control over engine revs. You can't pull away in 5th or stuff like that as it won't let you. Neither can you over extend I any given gear.

Get yourself on a quiet stretch of motorway and have a little play.

The auto box is so good on the 250 that all you need to do is set the ECT/PWR switch to ON and go and enjoy it.
