How Much For A Respray?

Recommended Posts

So my bonnet has a pretty big ding on it from something hitting it at speed and the front of the car has the usual stone chips and it has been bugging me the last few weeks. The guys at The Wheel Specialist recommended a respray and repair company called Banburys in Fareham who apparently are really good so I took my car in this morning for a quote.

For the bonnet, front and both wings they quoted me £900 plus vat which seems pretty expensive but I would be worried taking my car to a place that didn't have such a good reputation. If I do go ahead with it ( and to be honest I'm back and forth between doing it and saving the money) the car will be in all week.

Decisions...decisions.

Seems a bit expensive. Got rear bumper, front bumper, left side skirt resprayed. As well as all 4 wheels refurbished and all 4 callipers stripped and sprayed and rear windows tinted for just over £1500 all in.

300-350 for bonnet and 300-400 for both sides all in I think.

I thought it was expensive too...might have a shop around to see what else I can come up with.

After my accident I had the bonnet edge repaired and completely resprayed, same on the nearside wing, front bumper repaired and completely resprayed and replacement trim plus other bits fitted for £650.00.

I think the bonnet respray/repair alone cost £200.00 and the paint match is perfect.

Thanks Steve..that helps. Seems like they are charging me a premium. I'm a bit wary as mine is the Ultra Sonic Blue colour and I would hate for a respray to ruin that paint effect.

I would just leave it mate , just think if you get it sprayed and you get more stone chips , that will do your head in , keep it original , my bonnet is chipped but I'm leaving it , original is the way .

That's exactly what my wife says...the first chip after all that money would be a killer.

Honestly mate I've been there , I paid 27 grand for a brand new Lexus a couple of years ago , gorgeous car , hardly took it out .

One day boom nice big chip on the bonnet and bumper , couldn't believe it , I thought never again am I buying a new car , I felt sick.

The Lexus before that I spent around a grand on paint , looked mint then boom same again , back to square one ,

That's it for me , no more paint , one stone chip or 20 chips it's just the same , just ignore them mate .

I showed a mate of mine who has a porche 911 my car . He looked around it and said nice it's got original paint and stone chips on the bonnet , keep it like that he said ,

Have a quote from Paint Doctor (let me know if you want his contact details) all 4 wheels to be refurbed and the bonnet to be repainted £300

That's very cheap, you seen samples of his work first?
