Hi all

I want to remove the bulb in my boot light as a precaution against Battery drainage. I can't get it out. Am I right in thinking it's a standard bayonet fitting? Is the a knack to this? I don't want to be too heavy handed as I don't want to break the bulb

cheers

I had a problem on a '94 Mk3 where the boot light was draining the Battery. I would close the boot and watch the light go out (no, not from the inside :shifty:) but the micro-switch must have been dicky. To get over the problem, I removed the complete light unit and disconnected the electrical connection. I taped the connection up for safety.

It was one of those 'when I get round to it' jobs that never got fixed.

Hello Hugh,

I have a 2000 LS and the boot bulb just pulls straight out. It is a bit tight but I try and grab it as close to the base as I can and then pinch it out if that makes sense.

Good luck.

Steve

If you feel that Battery drainage is being caused, possibly by the boot light, i would not be interested in removing the bulb, i would be more concerned in fixing the issue causing the light to drain the Battery, does it switch on when it should not, if it does, why.

Just a thought, not an attack at you.

Thanks all. Chris, I agree, but lack of time forces a temporary solution. Despite fitting a new Battery, mine is flat within two weeks if not used. My Octavia will start after 6 weeks of being stood. Funnily enough, the only car that ever let me down when returning to an airport was a Toyota Avensis

Flat in 2 weeks, i think it is more than just a boot light bulb causing that drainage of power.

Mine has stood for more than 3weeks with no issue at all, even with the old Battery.

What voltage has the Battery got when the car is switched off ? and then when ticking over.
