Dvd Or Tv On Sat Nav Screen

Recommended Posts

Hi Geoffers you remember we were talking about the TV. in the Altezza well I have made some more inquires and I spoke to a chap in the local car radio shop and he said he had the sat nav adapter to accept a phono input but only as a NTSC signal, Just wondering could you just use a NTSC to pal converter like I used to use on my chipped PS1 to convert the pal signal to NTSC? Would this stop the flickering of the screen? Also when I asked about the TV. He said I would need to by a different TV. Tuner + Aerial + Fm modulator they total about £330 + V.A.T.!

Surely there must be some sort of band expander for my TV. To increase the reception range?

How did you get on with building your A.V. Input box?

NTSC and PAL both work fine on the SatNav head unit. The issue is the cost of NTSC cameras, DVD's (although quite a few support it), etc.

On the PS, you can just use a normal NTSC-PAL converter because you don't need to alter the line frequency, just the colour encoding. Color encoding issues are relatively easy to deal with, but the frame rate problems are where conversions are difficult.

Now, although the head unit is quite happy in doing this, it depends on the composite-RGB converter that you have - it may support the frequency difference. It's a case of trying it I'm afraid.

Steve - have you tried this on yours?

Regarding the TV tuner, I'm sure there is a way of shifting the frequencies enough, but I'm not sure what your tuner is looking for, or even where it is. A tuner + FM modulator can be bought for less than £100, but we need to find the inputs/outputs first! I really would like to have a look at your system to try and monitor signals, etc. and look at the setup. Where about are you?

My composite-RGB converter seems to be fine so far. Had a bit of a problem with the sync signal every now and again but it turned out to be a reset issue on the chip after switch-on. Sorted now though. I just need to leave it a reasonable length of time to make sure there are no other issues.

Hi Geoffers thanks for the reply well I'm in St. Albans (Hertfordshire) Jct 6 M1 Jct 21a M25 so me and you are quite a long way away. I too would also like you to have a look and see if you can work anything out. I should be getting my new remote for the sat nav soon so I will be able to give you some more info in that respect. Only other problem is as my car has been imported I cannot use it on the road until it has been through the Sva test which I have booked and is on 7th October so I can not really bring it to meet anywhere. But I would like to look a little deeper into the issues and also like to have a look at you setup.

Many Regards

Galee

Hi Guys, Been watching this post with interest, got an Altezza last year, with SAT NAV and TV, great to see finally may be able to use this very expensive ornament. All I've got to do now is see if I can get some sort of NAV system that can replace or work with existing monitor.
