Smog Sensor Sensitivity...

Guys,

I came across this thing in the sat nav manual, what is this? it says when in auto mode hold down the recirculate button and a smog screen will appear? has anyone tried this?

out of curiosity more than anything!

for the auto recirculation feature there is a sensitivity setting. You hold down the button to access it. Obviously the more sensitive the setting the more often the system will go into recirculation mode. On my old GS I found the default middle setting was about right.

This looks useful. I've tried this on my car and I can't get this option either, even though its mentioned in the sat nav manual. Is this option only available on later models?

I don't have the screen on my 2005 model (or if I do, I don't know how to activate it), but the smog sensor sensitivity can be programmed using a laptop and a techstream cable.

The way I got it to work was:

Press auto button on left, so that system is in auto mode.

Press recirc button until auto recirc/fresh light is on. The hold recirc button for 5 seconds.

this is the replacement sat navi bought a while back

and yes, its from a diesel.

My original (broken) unit has the auto bit,

now, whether or not i got the bAll$$$ to rip open my lexus AGAIN to replace this part of the sat nav is another thing, and i am not sure if it will work.

at the moment it works fine, of course being who i am, i would like it functional the way it should.

I took this off my original sat nav, IF I put this onto the diesel replacement that i got now i wonder would this smog sensor auto function work? also it would remove all traces of diesel elements from my car :P

It should work but no harm to check opinions of others.

the diesel nav could also screw up that intrusion sensor....

the system uses a smog sensor fitted to the front of the vehicle, just changing the controls won't give you the functionality, but if it was already there then you should get the functionality back.

my car is a petrol se-l, the 'button' is not there as i put on a diesel sat nav (which doesnt have this function as you know)., so i think the function should come back but taking out that sat nav is.....

well, i manged to get this going,

i put back in my OEM sat nav, got a complete new touch screen and it worked.

it works really good, a trip down the coast here and it was all in outside air, once you drive up behind a diesel, doesn't take long to switch to recirculate, where it stays for most of city driving.
