Oil Maint Reqd Followed By Check Vsc

Hi. I had the oil Maint Reqd warning light ping up yesterday quickly followed by the check vsc warning. Is the check vsc attributed to the oil Maint warning? An oil and filter change is booked for tomorrow but could there be any underlying issue as the check vsc warning is now on? Car has not gone into limp mode and is a 2008 is220d with 120700 miles on clock

I wouldn't think there is a connection between the 2 warning lights so would put it down to coincidence.

Perhaps your garage could pull the diagnostic codes whilst it is in for the oil change.

The "Check VSC" warning is intended to indicate an engine failure, but engine failures rarely happen if you drive a Lexus.

However, it does often occur that the "Check VSC" warning comes on, and this is mainly due to the fact that the engine runs most of the time at low revs, and can't heat up the system that ensures the combustion of the exhaust gas (it needs high temperature to obtain that).

If you drive the car for about 20 minutes at a constant speed of +/- 70 mph and keep it into low gear (you should reach 3500 rpm), the next time you start up the engine, the warning (and limitation of the engine power) should disappear...
