Very Strange Issue Re Headlights Following Battery Issue

Recommended Posts

Hi all, long time since my last post.

Ive got an is250 57 plate.

Not long after i got it, summer last year, i installed hid lights. Theyre great and never had an issue with them.

So, it comes to yesterday when a family member borrowed my car. I get a facetime call while they are at the petrol station showing me how the car wont start. Its was makig a clicking sound and wouldnt start. In the facetime i could see the hid lights flashing also in a reflection.

I went out to the car and a few google searches showed that the Battery may be low. Log story short i got it started and noticed that the headlights are not working. The car starts fine now so assume the Battery has recharged. But still today the headlights are dead. I have checked the fuses for headlights in the fuse boxes as per the car manual and they are fine.

Anyone have any suggestions or answers whats up with it? I love my car and dont want to spend a fortune fixing it :s

I imagine that the driver was trying to start with the lights on if they were flickering. I can only imagine that HID ballast/igniter didn't like poor supply voltage and has blown (maybe just an internal fuse). Unlike OEM HIDs some of the aftermarket ones aren't very robust.
