Can someone please help! i am trying to sell a 93 Lexus LS400, but for the life of me i can't bring the odometer reading up on the display? it's most annoying! as i need the mileage to advertise the car. I'ts peculiar because the dials are lighten? but odo display is unreadable? i'm thinking it could be a fuse? but i'm no auto mechanic. Could someone please help! a quick response would be appreciated.

Hi

I think I have read a few times that this is a common fault with the early LS400

do a search on the club or google and you will see it's a common issue and not expensive to fix, but requires some research

I've never heard of that fault before, illumination out yes very common and as Steve says a cheap and easy fix but the oddometer never.

I don't have a diagram specific for the cluster but would have thought if it lights up all the required supplies are present.

Just had a look at mine and from the illumination I would say there is a backlight bulb behind the display probably one of the small capless ones (2.2W).

Obviously you are going to have to remove the cluster to check this so I would check out the tutorials on www.lexls.com one of which will explain how to get the cluster out. Heed the warning about not turning the ignition on with it removed or the Airbag warning light will come on. Easy to sort but an additional problem you don't want.
