  1. Not really Chris. I have tried my best but just don't get along with the thing. It is a lot of fun in the snow I must say. A LOT of fun I might say... It's just too small and uncomfy and no toys. Misses likes it quite a bit so might keep it as a fun car as I've just bought her a grown up car (kind of) the little Merc in the middle. Knobby will be along soon enough saying BMWs are ******* and his invincible IS is better....

  5. I'm in the habit of getting Lexus to diagnose my problems then I can choose where and who to use for repairs. For example my lower control arm bushes are shot, Lexus won't replace the bushes but only the entire control arms. £300 a control arm just for the part, I need both sides so £600 in parts plus labour and VAT and the bull would be over £1000! I bought the bushes for £20 each from ebay and am paying a garage £70 in labour to change them. So what Lexus wanted £1000 for I'm paying £110 :)

  6. The plot thickens! Going through the plethora of paperwork this morning and found receipts for 2012 which show 2 maybe 3 wheel bearing replacements on the front :( Is this a common problem on the IS? Done a bit of searching and seem to be suggestion of inferior aftermarket wheel bearing kits and/or poor fitting. I am thinking about booking it into Lexus Bristol for an inspection and possible repair, bearing in mind it's 2003 with 90k on the clock am I setting myself up for a fall? Opinions and advice most welcome Si

  7. I only do my mpg calculations once the tank is empty and I refill. I think I am one of a few who fills the tank to the brim, but then I'm still getting over 400 miles to the tank. I do a lot of round town driving. I've got a 30 minute drive to work in which I'm probably doing 65mph for about 10 minutes, the rest of the time is town driving, 30mph and rarely into 6th. I try to drive carefully and get into 5th as soon as I can without the car feeling strained. I do drive like a grandad all the time to achieve my mpg and I know a lot of people say ' the car deserves to be driven ' and yes, but I'll drive it like this knowing I have the power if I wish to use it. When I drove to Burnley and back, a 450 mile round trip, I did not stop to put any more petrol in and I averaged 32.9 mpg. On Tuesday I put new tyres on which, according to blackcircles.com, claim I could savd upto 6 litres of fuel over a 600 mile journey. This would be a further increase in mpg of 2.2 on what I am currently getting, but I will keep you informed. Check your tyre pressures/balancing/tracking/tyre wear. There may be nothing mechanically wrong with the car, but these can have an effect on mpg. But ultimately, boring calm driving, slow accelerating will help improve mpg. Sorry for the boring reply. I like boring.
