  3. Last week I saw my old mkIII advertised on Gumtree Glasgow and had my mind set to get it back. I had emailed the guy several times last week and never got a reply. Then a few days ago the ad was removed from Gumtree and I thought that was the end of it, it is sold to someone else. Until today.... We live quite rural at the bonnie banks of Loch Lomond and went to get some shopping in the nearest town and saw a Ls400 parked outside a pub - coming closer and being able to read the license plate.....I saw it was my old Lexus . Someone was just getting out of it so I pulled up and asked him if he had just bought this car. He hadn't, he had owned it for 2 years. I said I wanted it back if it's still for sale. He had a lunch appointment in the pub so we agreed to meet up again in an hour .....Long story short = I swapped him my '95 7 series for the Lexus and it's mine again :) Coincidence or not.......?? seeing the guy lives about 30 miles away from that town..... It has had a few 'upgrades' since I last owned it - every bulb is LED now - There is a proper metal Lexus bonnet mascot added - The front grille and boot Lexus emblems light up - the underneath of the front doors have projector lights added ..when opening the door in the dark, LEXUS is projected on the ground and a few other things I forgot

  4. I don't believe the problem to be the LPG otherwise i wouldn't be prepared to convert my new one, the lpg was fitted at 60k failed at approx 100k and did 38 k with a rethreaded cylinder and replacement plugs if it was the LPG id have seen another similar failure (if you consider a replacement lpg injector routine of course) Im now inclined to believe it was an incorrectly fitted plug. (image attached) oh and all the lpg stuff bar the tank was under the bonnet, there was even flash lube fitted near the water bottle would not know what the vaporiser looks like I'm afraid

  5. You need the dealer edition or locksmith edition of the Lexus techstream system to program keys, which is so expensive to buy, that realistically, it's dealer only. You also need a *brand new* key. Once a key has been programmed, it can never be reprogrammed to another car. If you get a key off ebay, and it's already been used, you won't know until you get to the dealer and they try to program it, and the car simply won't start; so most dealers will only use their own keys. There are some other forums where people have brought their own keys and convinced dealers to try and program them, and then been left with a 1/2 hour bill for labour after the dealer couldn't do it. I bought a hacked techstream system off ebay for £30 and it certainly goes through the motions of programming keys - I've not actually tried it for real though, for fear of breaking the car or the keys, but it looks like it would do the job.

  8. It has been pointed out to me by private message that the interior looks cream in some photos. I assure all inside is a lovely shade of light grey, Photos on the other thread (One has to go) show this more clearly. Also I am saying the milage is 112K I did think was but I will check after the weekend as I am driving the Jaguar at the moment and I keep the other cars at my sons home. While he lives in the country and has two large barns he is not a farmer and has no livestock In fact he teaches english and history in north west london at the moment If I have made a mistake with the milage put it down as a senior moment a couple of photos

  9. Well it is a Toyota, so they are very good on reliability, how old is the car? mines 14 years old, passed every mot since i've owned it (6 years) only ever had the number 6 coil pack go at the back of the engine, and drove it home fine with the problem. 28mpg is pretty good too, i get around 21mpg but i have a lead right foot :p The only real downside with the car is it could do with more power....

New caliper with one dirty wheel after driving 20 miles in the rain this morning. Lower side hose and clips Throttle side hose and clips. Turbo to Air filter hoses and clips. Gonna do the 2 bottom hoses that fit direct to the intercooler next weekend as the cooler is coming off to be painted black and the bumpers are having a freshen up to along with the mesh grills being painted black.
