  1. all sounds like what would be expected, the US nav and radio systems are very different to the Euro systems, as far as changing the temp display, id imagine this would need doing in the ECU, if it can be done at all. and fopr changing MPH to KMH again it cannot be done, you have bought a US model, the who system is set up for the US imperial measurements

  2. When, as will happen, the PCP bubble bursts, then the service sides of volume manufacturers, plus those such as Lexus, are likely to catch a bad financial cold. In the meantime Lexus is not helping itself with clumsy and weak attempts to cement customer loyalty after 3 years. The majority of Lexus Dealers know this and are stamping service books, whatever the marketing speak used to describe a particular type of service. The sooner Lexus recognise this and sort out their servicing 'offer', the better for everyone - all imho of course :)

  3. Yes but surely that's defeating the point? The work will be the same and cost wise its more expensive for a minor at Merc. 20k miles before a service is somewhat ridiculous too, especially on a Diesel - my wife's Merc had to go in, on the money as well otherwise you could feel it wasn't performing its best - it started running rough near service time. The engine hasnt changed much since then either, its still the same old basic 2.1l diesel they're using

  4. Yes, that's essentially it, but in the meantime dampens road and body noise. See these videos. http://youtu.be/0FUERy14lxQ http://youtu.be/pZ5i_zgPIwU The 300h has monotube dampers and 50/50 weight distribution. So all I did was to add a stiffer rear anti roll bar and a less soft front lower arm bush. Transformed the car totally, giving less roll and much more front end bite.

  5. First time I've seen something like this....What's it suppose to do?? Does it replace an OEM item?? I'm not adverse to fitting aftermarket parts, just jave no idea who this thing is suppose to improve anything - For reference I find the ride quality on our IS300H as good/better that on my old BMW that had £2.5k worth of custom tuned Bilstein suspension on it :) It was developed and patented by Yamaha, and quite clever, in that a car steel bodyshell is the largest spring in a car and therefore needs damping too. The device is actually a super high pressure shock absorber mounter transversely attaching to major structural points on either side of the car. It gives rigidity when required, but also 'gives' where neccesary, by way of its incredibly small 1-2mm travel. On the IS300h, which still has stock springs and shocks (OEM are monotubes!) only one of these is fitted, at the end of the rear chassis rails; I suspect the cvt gearbox has too much girth and doesn't allow a front one to be fitted. On my BMW I have them both; the front one connects the two rear mountings of the front subframe. The main effect is the whole car feels tighter and quieter, rather than stiffer and noisier when ordinary strut bars are fitted. On quite a few Lexus models these come as standard, including the recently launched 200t F sport. Yes I am a fan of the handling of older BMW's, but with a few recent mods my IS handles better than any of them.

  6. They had it overnight as the coating needs to cure, all the work is done inside. They have a nice set up, on the day I picked my car up they were working on a brand new Ferrari 488 speciale in metallic grey that looked stunning delivered direct from the dealers. The poor guy who owned it also decided to buy an F12 while he was there.....it's a hard life for some people!!!! http://www.devilledetailing.co.uk/

  8. Not wishing to appear sad, I'll answer my own post for the benefit of anyone else who finds this. I bought the fitting kit from brakeparts.co.uk. For the front there are a total of 8 clips and 4 springs. I bought some discounted brake cleaner & grease from Eurocarparts on a 'click and collect'. I used a combination of the brake cleaner, wire and soft brushes to clean everything and used some Lithium grease for the Calipers pins. It was just a case of taking everything apart and after cleaning and greasing the Calipers pins, reassembly. One thing I would advise is to take some pictures of them before you strip the brakes so that you can be in no doubt as to how it all goes together and also buy plenty of brake cleaner.
