  1. That doesn't sound right. The supplier can't charge you the import duty or vat because that is paid to the government at the point of entry to the UK, and is collected by the freight firm from you. The import duty varies according to the type of product, but car related stuff can be from about 3% up to 10%, then you pay vat on the value of the goods and on the import duty - which is a rip off, but ther you go - we have 5 million illegal immigrants and a war to pay for. The best you can hope for is that your supplier will send an invoice with a low value. We do this all the time to our export customers, there is no loss to HMG only to the other country. Hope that helps :)
  2. You're right Mr Torrent. Politics aside now, our servicemen out there are doing a tough job, risking and losing lives. I am grateful to them, and relieved that I am not there. Thank you to them.
  3. There are some piccies on the Blog thingy. I dunno how the Blog thing works and how you can see it though. Try asking young Mr MacNally, he has held my hand on putting the pics on there Mark :)
  4. Ehem...........what about us?............we are independant Lexus specialists aren't we
  5. This was sent to me by Special Spam Delivery - wadya think? For those that do not know ALBION means white and is the name of our island given to us by Julius Caesar when he stood on the coast of Gaul (now Normandy) and saw the white cliffs of Dover across the Straights of Dover which the french call Pas de Calais but as Dover became a town before Calais the french can p..s off. I have often said that the paddys, scots and welsh all celebrate their day but all we do is put up the St. George flag on churchs and most englishman do not even know what date St. Georges day falls on. It is nice to see that since Scottish and Welsh independence 3 years ago that the UNION FLAG (not Union Jack as the navy has that) has almost disappeared at ENGLISH football internationals and replaced with the St. Georges Flag. All we now need to do is change our international GB plate on cars as Great Britain included the emerall isle and we don't own that since 1922 and finally why not get rid of UK aswell in such things as the European Song Contest as our nationality is English and not United kindomians! And in respect to Scottish and Welsh assemblys - how come they get their own parliaments and are allowed a seat in our Parliament???????????????????????????? Now you see why I only sell land in ENGLAND and not foreign countrys like Scotland, wales and ireland! Enjoy the following. regards Victor Subject: FW: St George's Day How true is this St George's Day TO be born English is to have won first prize in the lottery of life. To be English is to be part of the world's richest culture. From this sceptred isle sprang talents as diverse as Orwell and Chaplin, Kipling and Shakespeare, Nelson and Joe Strummer. In every field, in every era, the evidence of English greatness is there for all to see, from the enduring genius of Elgar to the magic of Michael Owen's goal against the Argies. As Ian Dury once sang: "There are jewels in the crown of England's glory, too numerous to mention, but a few." OK, not many of us know more than the first two lines of There'll Always Be An England, but we do know that our country gave the world football, cricket, rugby, tennis, the Beatles and Dickens. As a people we are not given to chest beating. Reserve and restraint are as much English qualities as inventiveness and enterprise. But we do resent the way Englishness is sneered at by the chattering classes. For them, the cross of St George is tainted by memories of empire (even though the Royal Navy smashed the slave trade). It has been like this for decades. More than 50 years ago, George Orwell wrote that "England is perhaps the only great country whose intellectuals are ashamed of their nationality." These sniggering fools don't even know the roots of their own radicalism. For every Francis Drake in English history there was a Wat Tyler. For every Wellington there was a Captain Swing. Military achievement understandably shaped our self image. The stout Yeomen of England have been beating off invaders for centuries. We saw off Bonaparte and smashed the Spanish Armada. But England gave the world parliamentary democracy and the trade unions too. We are strong-willed people, rightly proud of our traditions of free speech and tolerance. Our defining national characteristic is "constructive bloodymindedness" according to Keith Waterhouse, one of the greatest living Englishmen. Illustrated by the phrase "thus far and no further", it is why most of us refuse to take Europe seriously. European? Never. I was born English and I will die English, (unless Newcastle achieves independence). A soggy croissant will never replace egg, bacon and buttered toast. Whether your England is summed up by a bowler hat or a pit helmet, punk rock or Morris dancers, there are few national tapestries as rich as our beloved Albion's. My England is bubble and squeak and foaming pints of Boddingtons. It is Les Dawson and Barbara Windsor, Max Miller and Page Three. My England is pie and mash and Aston Martins, Derby day and Arfur Daley, Mods and Suedeheads, Lennie McLean and Carry On films. My England stretches from Dennis Skinner to Roger Scruton, from Peggy Mount to Beki Bondage. It's Blackpool beach, Charlie Drake, Middlesbrough FC, roast beef, imperial measurements and vindaloo. It's defiance. Whether it be King Alfred standing up to the Vikings, Colonel H at Goose Green, or the Metric Martyrs giving the finger to Brussels. No-one likes us! We don't care! And of course it is a national disgrace that TV gives St George a blank. But what do they know? How often do they get anything right? If you are English turn off the TV on April 23rd and get down the pub, preferrably in a fine Longshanks shirt. As Chesterton wrote: "St George he was for England and before he slew the dragon, he drank a pint of English ale out of an English flagon." Enjoy yourself this St. George's Day. And remember, there will always be an England.
  6. From past experience I would not trust any Nigerian that told me me he was a prince, just like I don't beieve any of their other stories I get every week. I am sure that there a few people that claim to be religious that do actually have goodness in their hearts ( my brother is a Lay Preacher, and he is OK), but my over riding experience with so called religious people is that they tend lie cheat and steal just like non religious people, but that makes them worse because they expect to be treated differently When I am PM I will ban religion and compel the population to treat others as they would like to be treated - with respect, regardless of colour and culture.
  7. Forget it - everyone in Nigeria is a prince or some minor royalty - yeah right! You would not believe how many fraud attempts we receive every week from Nigeria. The same goes for Malaysia and Indonesia - the world capital for credit card fraud - but still devout Muslim countries - how does that work, I thought religious people were supposed to honest?
  8. I've been on the fence so long on this there are ridges on my backside. I have no doubt that Hussein is a nutter that needs to go, but I don't think he is any bigger nutter than GWB, Blair or Chirac. I'm still not convinced either way, but then again it's a done deal anyway. Keep your head down Mat
  9. This goes back to what I was saying last year, and proves that the concept of a united Europe will never work. Chirac is not European he is French, and is looking after French interests (which you can't blame him for). France sold Nuclear reactors to Iraq and has negotiated sole rights to Iraq's oil resources when the sanctions are lifted. France is not well known for it's sympathy for other countries (blowing up a Greenpeace vessel, nuclear weapons testing in the South Pacific, entertaining Mugabe the Butcher etc etc). Either Chirac has been touched by the Lord and has come over all sympathetic and saintly, or he is a greedy ***** looking out for the best position for himself. I wonder which one it could be? I think it is time that Chirac showed the rest of the world what a European should act like, and show a little more gratitude to the US without whome, France would be a part of Germany now.
  10. Thanks for your replies Guys. I need a big car to lug my kids and Boss around. Having taken the turbo kit off my old GS I am tempted to go for a later one and refit the kit, but then again I think I prefer the Vertex, then I was tempted by an X5 so maybe I'll look at the RX300. Decisions...........
  11. With some decent power and the right gearing this car has a very high potential. The trouble is that the Skyline boys have upped the ante somewhat. To be impressive nowadays you really need to be on the other side of 200 mph. Even my standard bike does 205 mph out of the crate. With the standard diff the acceleration will be blistering and will do almost 170 mph which is enough for most people, but I want this car to be awesome, so hopefully at a later date........
  12. You will probably get your 4p a litre back in better economy too Dave, as the ecu will not be riding on the knock the sensor. When the knock sensor is operational the ignition is retarded which is bad for power, bad for economy and can overheat the catalytic converter (which is not the strongest cat in the world). Mark :)
  13. Is this war righteous and legal or unjustified and illegal? wadya think?
  14. Just sold my GS300 Gangsta :( Sold it to Nathan (Operations Director here) at next to nothing so it is still in the familly. Dunno what to get next - any suggestions? Mark :)
  15. It depends on the manufacturer. If you have a plate type LSD they do make a lot of noise Mark :)
  16. It is difficult and expensive to get more power than the stock compressor kit, becuase pretty much everything is maxed out. To go for stage 1 you will need a better exhaust manifold, intercooler, fueling upgrade, ecu upgrade, larger pulley kit, induction system, etc etc. Let meknow if you have any questions Mark :)
  17. Looks about right!!!!! Seen the new Mini ad on the telly? You looking at my bird? :D :D :D
  18. Someone posted a picture of this kit last year. It is available for the is200 but has a metal a metal intake pipe (bad for heat soak - hence loss of power), and does not have a cold air feed, although you could probably use ours. Mark :)
  19. Lowered, induction and ecu upgrade. Suits you Sir! ;)
  20. Hi Asam The lightened flywheels significantly reduce the rotational mass which does help engine acceleration. The limited slip diff maintains power transfer to one wheel if the other spins (normally if one wheel slips, the other will recieve no drive). For safety you are better off with th RLTC system. Everyone that have had them fitted are very pleased with it. Hope this helps Mark :)
  21. Hi Si We found out recently (on Grims car) That when you change the manifold the mixture strength is very lean. To overcome this you will need the fuel line/pump/tank/regulator upgrade at the very least. If you want the stage 1 boost upgrade a Unichip or Emanage or similar will just about do but you would be better off with Motec, HKS or similar. Best regards Mark :)
  22. I am waiting fro a reply to "when and how much" Typically they are as fast as centipede with broken legs to answer these questions. I will let you know as soon as I do, but if it happens at all it will be much later this year at the earliest. Mark :)
  23. Hello We have done quite a few Starlets and carry some performance parts for them. Check out the Torque Developments link at the top of the page Mark :)
  24. Hello Has anyone got a set of old Mk1 GS300 spring lying about that they don't want anymore? We have an urgent need for a set. Thnx - Mark :)
  25. We can do it but it is a big job. In fact it is part of the stage 1 boost upgrade package for the compressor system. Mark :)
