  1. unlike the lady from ealing, who aims for the ceiling?:lol:
  2. the Tuscan S - which I have got :P The last three are the only ones I need, and are (from memory); you should get the Tuscan no problems, I've had loads :D If you want one, send me your address, and I'll mail ou the next one I get
  3. Aloholic - sorry, predictable I know - but a pint of ice cold Stella every time. Non Alcoholic - I have really got a taste for Diet Coke with Lemon recently.
  4. my avatar fits nicely on a T68i - looks pretty cool too :tumble: feel free to pinch a copy
  5. ruled BMW out - undriven. Don't like 'em - don't like the impression everyone has of BMW drivers (largely deserved) - don't want people thinking of me like that. Drove the X-Type and was put off by the bodyroll - even on the stiffened suspension sports model, it was a bit "rolley" Looked at the Merc - didn't really like the body shape - and the interior was kak. The Renault I was changing from had a nicer interior. I tried to get a test drive in the laguna when my renault was in for service, but sales manager wouldn't let me - I figure he saw my scruffy looking jeans, the fact I was driving a three ear old Megane and thought I was trying him on. So they gave me a POS Clio. When i explained to him how much I was looking to spend, and that I was thinking of a Lexus - he practically threw his business card at me, and tried to book me in for a test drive - but I had ruled the Laguna out by then. I think the problem was I "wanted" an IS - every time I saw one on the road I tough "Hmm - I really like the look of that" and especially "Look at them wheels and ties". So I went to Lexus first, was completely impressed with the service, and loved the test drive - sold!
  6. 5000 :o:o:o:o:o:o ***** - I'll get a pension before the supercharger with these rules :bounce:
  7. theres a bunch of cheap software that will convert WMA to MP3 in a batch process - leave it overnight and see how many it can do! try these http://www.wma-mp3.com/ http://www.softlandmark.com/Audioconvertor.htm or search on Google - theres loads out there! Yeah - the files will be bigger, but write 'em to a distinct folder, copy 'em to your car MP3 unit, them delete 'em off the PC, and only hold the WMA files there. would really like one of these myself, but am holding out at the moment to see what happens with law on using a phone. I may get a bluetooth handsfree kit (this one) so want to check up on this first.
  8. extreme amounts of halluocegenic drugs? how wasted have you got to be to want to drive around in something that looks like that? Imagine walking to the car park with a colleague - (s)he asks "Is that your car?" What would you say
  9. I had to wait 10 weeks for mine (combination of colour scheme / sat nav). Chuffed to bits for all of 7 weeks, then some daft old biddy wrote it off :sniff: Three months of fighting with insurance company -and driving a 1.2 AUTOMATIC Corsa, a 530D BMW (didn't like it) and a new Mondeo (which wasn't that bad actually) - then a coupla weeks wait for the replacement. Needless to say, getting into an IS after a Mondeo is a relief! Enjoy the car - like you need me to tell you;)
  10. :P:P:P whats the deal with the stars - when do you get more etc? how can you cash them in (ie - how many stars do I need for a s/c?):D
  11. I read the appropriate sections in the manual to provide some info for this thread, and never saw any hint being able to change the locking behaviours. Maybe a dealer could? Ask your dealer?
  12. I had to mail order mine - got it very early on. But my brother said they had them in stock in Carphone Warehouse when he was up there the other day.
  13. not to my taste I'm afraid - and my IS is blue. When I was deciding between the green and blue, I did toy with green with gold - but still thought it a bit naff. And then, seeing as I choose blue - thought the silver badges looked good. No offense to you guys who have it done - it's just not my taste
  14. :D actually, I spent 2 nights a week in Milton Keynes - every week for about 2-3 months recently (thats where the project I was contracted to was based). Being stuck in the hotel on your own, with only 7 channels - it got to the point where BB and Graham Norton where actually the best thing on telly - so watched a fair bit of it
  15. Lights need to be set to AUTO for thesensors to be any use at all
  16. I've left the manual on the desk. just in case :D:cool::saint::smilegrin::smug::bounce:
  17. On mine - the second press is a distinctly different locking sound. One click is 'snick' type locking sound, then the second is a more meaty 'thunk'
  18. I had just put the manual away........ :D Theft Deterrent System - Page 144 Setting the system without the radar sensor funtion. Select this system when a put or something moving object (sic) has been left in the vehicle. 1 - Close all the doors, trunk and hood 2 - With the drivers door OPENED, push the power door lock switch to lock and then unlock three times in sucession. Complete step 3 before 5 minutes have passed. 3 - Close all the doors, then push the 'LOCK' switch of the wireless remote control key once. PUSH THE LOCK SWITCH ONCE TO SET ONLY THE THEFT DETERRENT SYSTEM, AND PUSH IT TWICE TO SET BOTH THEFT DETERRENT SYSTEM AND THE DOUBLE LOCKING SYSTEM. OK - that sounds completely different to anything anyone has ever said here - but thats what the book says. The POWER DOOR LOCK SWITCH is the one on the drivers side door, next to the window controls.
  19. thats pretty cool. got give credit were due too - that took some doing - but looks like they enjoyed themselves:lol:
  20. of my 02 IS200 SE Double Locking System - Page 38 The Double Locking System is a theft prevention system. On vehicles with the double locking system there are labels on the front side windowsto indicate the vehicle is equipped with this system. The system is set when you lock all the doors using wireless remote control. Once set, the double locking system prevents the doors from being unlocked either from inside or outside the vehicle. CAUTION BOX - Page 38 Never activate the double locking system when there are people in the vehicle, because all the doors cannot be opened from inside the vehicle. If locking the doors by accident, press the UNLOACK button of the wireless remote control key. SETTING THE SYSTEM - page 38 1 - Turn the ignition key to the LOCK position and remove it 2 - Have all the passengers get out the vehicle 3 - Close all the doors 4 - Push the LOCK switch of the wireless remote control key TWICE WITHIN 5 SECONDS Hopefully - that answers the question for those of us with the newer model. Someone else will have to look up the destructions for the previous model. BTW - same manual - different thread, from page 31 of the manual You have 30 seconds to open a door after using the wireless remote control unlock feature. If a door is not opened by then, all the doors will be automatically locked again. DISCLAIMER Text is from the relevant pages of the Owners Manual, IS 300, IS 200 for the 02 model. Spelling misteakes are ALL mine
  21. Mine is an 02 IS and pressing the 'lock' once locks the car. Pressing the 'lock' again activates someother locking mechanism - because you can here it. FRom the sound - I would say that the second time activates the deadlocks
  22. I like the look of the S Type - but must admit, the more X Types I see on the road, the less I like them - especially the view from the rear. It'll still be a great day though - the event I went to had an XKR - but they wouldn't let us have a go at that :sniff: :sniff:
