  1. As some of the contamination has washed away it is certainly "not in the paint":try LUKE Warm Fairy Liquid followed by Autoglym Shampoo.
  2. With Auto you get the sport & paddlle shift mode, its much easier in most traffic situations,it is actually more economical than the manual,it incorporates a hill - start facility, the 6 speed box is 99% protected against the car being thrashed & long Continental journeys are an absolute doddle. My IS 300 was superb, the new IS is even better ,the Box is even better than that in the current LS!
  3. When you're in the wrong gear and the revs are too low for that gear e.g. being in 5th gear at 10 mph. Not really a problem for the auto though. Cheers Scott. Yes this wouldn't be a problem for the auto, man the changes are so sweet, you really cannot tell when it moves up a gear. Lucky man Saracen...how is the car bearing up? How many miles have you done, and have you stopped smiling? The car is still amazing and I'm am loving it, loving it, loving it. :D The car has generated a lot of positive comments from colleagues at work and I'm still giving the occassional guided tour. And I love the way people stare at it as it glides past them or the way others try and crane their necks to get a better look when stopped in traffic. So far I have done just over 1200 miles and I've had the car for nearly a month, and it still looks perfect, I've not reached Koshimes levels of super polishing but I did nip in to Halfords over the weekend to get some car cleaning bits and pieces. This week I did my first long trip up to Manchester with three colleagues from work, the car certainly got its fair amount of Ooos and Aaaahs, as I demonstrated the keyless entry and start, the sat nav and the reversing camera (which I think got the most admiration of the day). Despite some of the very positive comments for the IS in the press I still think Lexus has some way to go before, in people minds, they favourably compare it with BMW, Audi and Mercedes. I'm not bothered, I still think it is the best all-rounder on the road and fantastic value to boot. And in the future I'll be able to say "I had the foresight to drive one when everyone else thought they were rubbish!" I finally saw another IS - in Aberdeen of all places! An then another in Coventry a few days later but they are still a very rare sight on the road. Am I still smiling, what do you think? :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D I have had 4x IS Lexi to date & my latest 250 attracts favourable comments/glances daily.Style/VFM/Build Quality are Light years in front of BumW!
  4. I have a 2001 rx, my seat does the same when I'm driving but not my wife. I'm a rather large man not fat but well set. my seat cushion just touches the centre consul which causes the squeak. ← Is it an MK1 you have ??...being a 2001... if so might be quite different compared to a MK2.. ← My RX400h back leather seats squeek unless I let down the centre arm rest . I wonder if I treated them with something would the stop squeeking? I had the same issue with my back seats, when i looked closely found that all the 3 parts (40/20/40) were not in the same line. Once I aligned them the squeak is gone. Silicon/Rubber Lubricant from Halfords will erase leather / plastic noises.
  5. I understood each Dealership had 1 each & had no trouble selling all of them. Yellow is a v. common colour in Hong Kong & they drive on the right!
  6. oil consumption or fuel consumption the engine shouldnt be using oil at this stage of its life.......at all regards fuel consumption...lay of the go go pedal :duh: In my experince oil consumption is neglible @ 120000kms. provided you use synthetic oil & always allow the engine to reach operational temperatures Before you start driving hard.
  7. Order your Body Colour Stick now as Dealers tend not to carry stock. Also does anyone have the colour match for the new wheels? Terry.
  8. Superb Car:a real BumW Beater!!!!
  9. You are SO wrong! If you try to spec a BumW 2.5L 3 Series Auto against a 250 SEL Auto the Bm is c.4.5k dearer & still short of the Lexus model's specification let alone the latters style, wow factor & bullet-proof reliability & build quality! Terry.
  10. A Track Pump is very easy to operate & takes 4 strokes to add 1psi:used this method for years! Terry
  11. My Auto SEL cold starts @1500rpm & is c. 800rpm after simply reversing out of my garage. Terry.
  12. My last Company Car was a IS 200SE & I did 85000 miles in 21mnths visiting Europe many times.Tyre wear was the only issue & even then my original set was only changed once as my journeys were all motorway.Since retiring c.3yrs, ago had a IS Sport & IS 300 from new and the only issue is tyre wear(c. 20k).4 wheel geometry IS critical with wide low profile tyres &/or 18" wheels as neither like Potholes for obvious reason. Terry
  13. Seems to me it is the Dealer not the car that is @ fault & they should fit a replacement belt from one of their cars!!!!!!! Terry
  14. Running-in my 250-sel Auto so only been up to 90mph & zero wind-noise. Terry. :
  15. HI Everyone, Am I correct that the large "audio"(?) cable tied to the N/side boot floor is that used for the Sat Nav Option & ,therefore,I & some or all lucky IS250 Owners have Bluetooth wiring pre-installed by de-fault? Terry
  16. Had the same concern as you & the width is with the mirrors out so you can just get it in a std. garage with them folded! Terry
  17. Driven 150k. in 4 Lexi 200/300's from 2000 to present day & unidirectional tyres Must be fitted correctly as handling is scary at high speed & in the wet.On my new 250SEL Auto Lexus has erased this possible error by supplying a Space Saver!!! Terry.
  18. Try lubricating seals with Silicon Rubber Lubricant available from Halfords & check that your Drivers door window is seated correctly.
