  1. I'd be tempted to try and make the speedo and rev numbers blue, I guess this means "unsheathing". My main concern is dismantling the dash on a Saturday morning, doing lots of other distractions during the weekend, then panicking that I have to reassemble the whole lot in time for Monday morning. Last thing I want to do is drive around with a dashboard balancing on my lap!
  2. Here's a dilemma. If you fill in your numbers, and notice the person next to you has just filled in the same numbers, would you change yours or ask him to change his? p.s. the guy just did a turd on your open sandals so you really don't want to share the jackpot with him.
  3. Perfect experiment to resolve this. As long as this thread exists when time travel is possible, someone will post next Saturday's Lottery results immediately after this message.
  4. But the conversion given doesn't include the stock audio system. Can that be converted too? It would look a bit strange having two tone colours through the dash and console.
  5. If a cat didn't know lions existed (which I presume most don't), would it know lion poo was the poo of a lion, a ferocious and much larger cat that didn't like small cats smelling its poo?
  6. Just checked the tyres, they're Dunlop Sport 9000. I think they were £163 each. I'll dig up the full work done later. Would it be worthwile showing the full breakdown?
  7. But doesn't it say somewhere that your warranty is only valid if you service at a Lexus Dealer? Maybe it was Lexus approved?
  8. Tony is just fine, cheekiest gentleman ever. My claim to fame list is pretty lame. Edwina Curry- Friend invited her to the Uni freshers fayre James Brookes - RB for the Cincinatti Bengals (whooped his ***** at pool. Didn't boast though, he'd of whooped me into next week) Nick Hancock - Told him to move as he was in the way of the kitchen in the pub i worked in. Dave Prowse (aka Darth Vader in Green Cross Code disguise) - Came to my primary school to teach us jedi mind tricks. Sure there's one or two more, might remember later! [Edited on 19-4-2002 by red6]
  9. Work done: 2 New tyres for front 4x Brake pads/discs Materials Alignments (there was a posh name for this, which made it quite expensive.) Few minor things like replaced battery on key fob/ screenwash/ oil Then obviously labour and VAT What I never understand, is that surely when you buy a car, you own all the pieces as well. So why don't you get a big bucket of components in the boot when they've replaced them. Or even show you them if they're too big to fit. Once when I had a company car, I was told that I'd cracked a sump pretty severely so it had to be replaced. I live near a lot of speed bumps but I don't ignore them. I never saw the old sump so surely the garage can just say that if they know the type of streets where I live? Just the other day, my friend put his car in to a local garage to have any necessary work done to pass its MOT. A bill arrived but didn't need to pay it until after the MOT was conducted at the same place a few days later. Get this, on test day, someone rang him to say his brakes were too worn out to pass and need changing. He replied saying "Well thats funny isn't it?", "Why?" said the garage. "Well you did the f#@£ing work to pass my MOT." After a long pause they said they'd ring him back, which they didn't. The brakes were never mentioned again. I'm not doubting the work had to be done on my Lexus, but you have to wonder when you don't get to see whats wrong with things. Anyway, my company pays for services, perks of directorship.
  10. To please all GS300 owners out there, my girlfriend and I had the pleasure of dining with THE Tony Hart the other night in Hanley. I actually chauffeured him in a courtesy GS300 and he said it was a delightful car and has never been in a car so comfortable. We're now the proud owner of a custom drawing of Morph, signed and personalised. Just for the record, Tony owns a Toyota Camry.
  11. Well, just picked my car up from the local dealer. The bad news, 40k service cost just under £1100, the good news, I didn't pay for it and I got to drive a GS300 for just over a day. Interestingly enough, while my car was in for the service, the dealer I bought my car from has offered to swap my car for an IS300 of same spec for 13k, buying mine back for the same price he sold it to me. Now, after 13k miles in 3 and a half months I'd be crazy not to just to avoid some depreciation, but for 13 grand, I can buy a weekend play machine. How much have other people paid for services?
  12. I bought the same bulbs a while ago. The light is definitely whiter than stock, but i'm not sure if they are brighter. Haven't had the time to test. I believe there's a thread where someone has kindly demonstrated the difference.
  13. Is there going to be a definitive logo for team lexus? I would proudly adorn the team lexus emblem on my car and phone, but I do think it shouldn't stop there. Considering we're a community, why don't we collate our services and create some kind of directory. Respective to a thread earlier (Where do you work?), I think many members can benefit from each other. If someone is an insurance salesman (or works in a dealership, hint hint) and can get us all a discount, then its worth while. Everyone's happy. At the end of the day, Team Lexus would gain more recognition, more hits thus world domination. I realise this could potentially lead to a free for all advertising campaign, so it might get out of hand, but any feedback is surely productive feedback? If services are just listed, then maybe we could all benefit? Just an idea
  14. Sat Nav has saved me so much time and effort 95% of the time. I use it as I travel to different locations around the UK most days. The remaining 5% of the time its got me in some horrendous trouble as it can't always be up to date, but thats fair enough. I'd say if you don't drive to new places or venture into London frequently, invest in an atlas instead.
  15. Hi weltmeister, Thanks for the reply. Have a look at these prices for on the road. RaceTech 330CI - £29,800 - no sat nav RaceTech Jag S-Type - £28,495 - no sat nav Lexus IS300 - £31,110 - body kit, sat nav The reason why the cars are cheaper is because they're imported and they make them match UK dealer price by adding lots of extras. I appreciate there's a lot more of these on the road and this is why I put them in a league below. I just think its hard to justify the price as stock performance is what i want above my IS200. I'm still going to test drive the IS300, but I'll probably go down the same route as you and go for an Elise for my thrashing around car. After all, I use my Lexus for work and I'm sure economy goes out the window when you start adding superchargers and everything. Please don't take all the above that I'm disheartened with Lexus cars, they've just not done enough to make me want their new model. Now if someone imported the IS300 to the UK and modified it, then that would make me think.
  16. Does the IS300 have the lag the 200 has at low revs? My business partners have a new 330CI from Racetech and a Jag S-Type. Both hav excellent acceleration and great auto boxes. I'm not changing allegiance but I'd expect more from Lexus given 6cyls and 3ltrs along with their asking price. As for the sound system not being as good, well there's no excuse for that. Aren't standard parts supposed to get better with time?
  17. Its a shame you don't get anything but a flimsy piece of paper after the funds we part with. Even a trophy with would do, or more aptly a mug.
  18. Business Class is always a killer. My policy above is based on 20k year total. Already done 10k since Jan. Luckily I know the chaps quite well and they can pull a few strings for me.
  19. I get that horrible shaking stability problem now and again on the motorway when it feels like there's a force 10 wind coming sideways on. I think its always happened as I'm accelerating through the gears. That might be due to different rear tyre manufacturers to front (Lexus did that). Are your's the same make all round?
  20. But you should have one already, shouldn't you?
  21. Controls on the steering wheel. Even basic cars have something useful. Lights on the rear pillar for passengers. Remaining fuel by distance (unless this is on the newer one) Parking sensors on the manual. Why only for autos?
  22. I agree with Wallace, especially with mods.I think it'd be useful to have people's mods linked to a tally table. For example, how many people use the HKS, or TRD equipment, etc. Maybe even reviews, a lot like Amazon book reviews. I always check to see how many people are in the chat room and there's always 0. There are, however usually a few people on-line. Is there a way to lure people in to the chat room? Just out of interest, are there plans to bring the community to the road? As in an emblem for the back of your car or something. I must have seen thirty Lexus' since Monday and I bet at least one was a member.
  23. When I was looking for a car, I first searched for user groups and found this one. Considering all the information I picked up from all the enthusiasts in here, I knew to go for a Lexus. I then used the Lexus.co.uk website to find the car I wanted. I think if there was a showroom, you should force a seller to provide certain information. Lots of the private sale sites have ads that have missing info eg no. of owners, Lexus Service History and tell you stupid things about the standard spec. Maybe ask everyone what details they want to know about to create a template for each car entry?
  24. You can't race around in a Lexus with 1002 bhp on the XBox! :D
