  1. Same story with me. Standard setup has good sound quality, plenty of low end oommpph to make your rear view mirror vibrate when turned up nice and loud ! Stays distortion free too. I couldn't justify the c£3000 for the upgrade, although rear parking assistance would have been nice. Don't see the point of playing DVD's when stationary...have a TV in the house for that.
  2. I've put WMA and MP3 on CD's and is fine. Think they recommend a sampling rate of at least 128. Only difference with your setup Jamboo, is that I haven't got the MM upgrade.
  3. Sausage roll, chips and beans from the office canteen. Then sit on my butt all afternoon.
  4. Got my JD form during the week, not filled it in yet. Only problem I've had was the dash rattle...now sorted and all is really quiet again.
  5. Thanks saracen, will give it a go. On the subject of front fogs I don't mind these as much as those numpties...usually driving Fords...who leave their rear fogs on. B) The only fog is in their brains. I do wonder though, why people pay extra for cars with Xenon lights, and then only put the fogs on :winky:
  6. Slightly off topic....but still talking lights. Has anyone noticed how the lights on the dash and dials also dim automatically. This happens even if you haven't got the lights set to auto. Say you're driving in fairly low light and go under a motorway flyover, the difference in light can make the electronics dim your dash, then when you're through the flyover...up they come again.
  7. Well done Jamboo...bet you're soooo glad you didn't cancel that order now aren't you ! Colour looks grrreat....let me know if it stays clean looking better than black.
  8. I have a black IS250, and noticed swirls quite soon after collecting. That was in my old regime of ... hose it down, wash with sponge, rinse and chammy dry. Have now seen the error of my ways.....new regime Hose down. Attach soft brush to hose and clean with top down strokes making sure no grit stays on the brush. Meguiars wash mit with Nxt generation wash solution and bucket of water to rinse the mit off. Dry off with microfibre. Also used some Zymol cleaner wax which removed most of the swirls I (or dealer ?) had put on the car. Must say too, that there's nothing that shines quite like her when I'm finished ! Roll on the summer.
  9. Try some Zymol cleaner wax to get rid of the swirls.....works a treat on my black IS
  10. Glad you like the car....Same as mine and I have to say it's the first car I've owned for a number of years where I just can't wait to get in and drive somewhere....anywhere !. My last car was a 320SE which was a great car, the IS250 is just more special.
  11. I was always a fan of Auto Glym, but since getting my new IS...in black ! I've switched to Meguiars NXt wash solution, and to keep the swirls at bay Zymol cleaner wax, which compared to the Auto Glym stuff is miles ahead....easier on and easier off. I would also stay...don't use a sponge to clean it. I'm sure my old sponges were responsible for a few swirls on the paint....now use a Meguiars super soft wash mit.....which with current weather and the amount of salt on the road is getting worked pretty hard ;) Enjoy the motor ! Can't wait to see the pics
  12. No DVD/MM upgrade in mine, standard setup good enough for me. I'm writing to RW CD's so about 700Mb. Multiply that up for the 6 disks and you've a good bit of room for plenty of music. I really like the way you can organise the folders too, makes it real easy to find what you want to listen to without having to fiddle about with an ipod/mp3 player plugged in the aux socket.
  13. I burn in WMA format @ 128, which seems to compress further than MP3, and don't seem to notice any difference in quality :D Infact I'd say playback in the car is better than on my MP3 player so I'm definately not going cable hunting.
  14. To come up with the class topping power, perhaps they have fitted too large a turbo and that's the cause of too much lag ? Could also be why the fuel economy not that great. Thanks for all these comments on the diesel...makes me glad I went for the 250 auto.
  15. I think some people have mentioned you can get it seperately as an option....speak to your dealer, and if they deny all knowledge try a couple of others.
  16. Saw the re-run today...that's the way to deal with the yanks !
  17. Has the dealer moved your delivery date from when you originally placed the order ?? Could be they could take the hit for the MOT if they have. If they haven't when you arranged your PX what did they say about the MOT then...guess they looked at it ?
  18. The paddles change the gear range that the automatic can select from. Changing the range doesn't necessarily mean it will change gear at that moment. Example ...you're in range 2 doing 25mph. You change up to range 6 by pulling the + paddle 4 times in short order. The gearbox will probably change to 3rd or 4th but won't go to 6th. Also you're right, the 'box will downshift as normal as speed is reduced, you don't need to pull the - paddle It's great for town driving, as you can keep to a lower gear and keep the revs up..and up...and up !
  19. Have tried mine a couple of times recently, though not on any really steep hills. Where a hill isn't too steep the auto does it's usual creep. on a steeper hill will roll back very slowly and then stay still after minimal distance. Why all the carry-on about the foot operated parking brake. Put it on by pressing it with your foot, and when you want to release it on a hill press it while also pressing the accelerator...what's the issue ? It's the same as releasing a 'hand'brake at the same time as clutch up and accelerate.
  20. Not so sure any asthmatics will agree with the 'less harmful stuff'. I do mostly city driving just now, and am getting 24mpg from the 250 auto. The only chance I've had to do a motorway stint returned 35.
  21. The auto gearbox helps by changing down to give you some engine breaking too....particularly noticable when breaking whilst going down hill.
  22. I wonder if BMW do something similar to get their What Car awards
  23. Ordered 5th December.......picked up 21st December :D
