  1. Pulling the fuses might sort it, at least temporarily. There are posts here somewhere on which ones to pull.
  2. A bit late now I guess but perhaps you should have compared the IS220d Sport against the BMW 320d M Sport. :)
  3. I did exactly the same thing. The metal is not that thick. I never had any problem with water although I avoided very large puddles.
  4. I got a record tank average for my sport yesterday of 45.5mpg :o :D It was 99% motorway driving for 120miles at 70mph.
  5. Just a quick note on the difference the sport gearing makes. I just had an SE for four days (while Lexus re-sprayed my rear bumper and boot orange :o ...but thats another story - going back to see the bodyshop manager on Monday). I easily got 39-40mpg where my sport usually gets 30-33 for the same journey/driving style.
  6. Woah glad you're ok. Nice to know those airbags do work when needed. Sounds like one of those "guess the number of balloons in the car" competitions.
  7. @Matus and Tango I tend to stick close to the speed limit so high speed driving is not an issue for me. When accelerating I like to push it hard sometimes and having to work through more gears is not so bad either. In fact I found the sport gearing better for low gears too though I don't know why. Anyway for my driving style the sport suited me much better: Accelerating I get the noise and awesome torque of the diesel (I found the petrol one just too quiet after my IS200 with fat exhaust and induction kit) and have to work the gears so the car is more involving. Cruising at 70mph I get a car thats very quiet and still flexible with the sport gearing. Anyway back on topic my fuel consumption has been getting worse. Commuting it dropped from 33mpg to 30mpg. Perhaps I was just driving it harder though I tried taking it easier this week and perhaps because it was warmer too I was getting 35mpg. I was surprised it was suddenly 5mpg better.
  8. Hmm I've noticed today that it does seem to create a noticeable gap where it pushes the dashboard apart slightly (perhaps it'll stop the rattles!). I'm going to try fitting it again to see if I can get it to sit in slightly better. I'll have to attach a picture so you can make up your own minds if you'd be happy with it. (The IS200 version was better as you could fit it lower down and it clamped to into the gap without forcing it apart so much.) The other bad points on the IS220 version is access to the vent on/off is a bit limited (although I just tend to leave it on anyway) and its obviously cutting down the air flow from the vent a bit. I'm not quite so excited as I was at first although it's nice to be able to use my Palm again.
  9. My dealer hadn't even heard of it and could find nothing about it so I guess it depends on your dealer. Yup, the sport is sooo much better to drive.
  10. I've just got one of these... http://www.brodit.com/montering.jsp?anr=653848 It's a mount for mobiles/PDAs/mp3 players etc. I had one in my IS200 and I've just got one of the first batch available in the UK for the IS220/250. It simply clips into the dashboard so you don't end up with screw holes or glue marks. I ignored the bit about sticky tape and it worked ok. It's more secure than one of those vent clip-on ones and not as obvious from outside as a windscreen suction mount. You buy a seperate holder for your make of device and screw it onto the mount. I have a swivel holder for my Palm Lifedrive. I use it as an MP3 player in the car. It's not cheap but I've found it good so thought I'd mention it in case anyone else was interested.
  11. If you look under the lexus knowledge link on the home page there's stuff like this... http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/knowledge...p;id=41&c=5 40k service is about £400 so check thats been done. Next one is 50k which is something like £100. I think cambelt change is 100k. Mine had done 95k when I sold it and hadn't had it changed yet.
  12. And our "on demand" bit of the digital tv has only worked one day since the change over from ntl to virgin.
  13. Oops. Actually I'm muppet of the week - I reversed into another car
  14. I was in the yahoo group too :) Seems like a long time ago now.
  15. Cool. My daughters a Lexus fan so each year I take her to one of the brands hatch race days. She'll be hoping you do well.
  16. I tried but my dealer couldn't find anything about it. I'll try another dealer when I get round to it.
  17. I didn't try a performance air filter but I did have an induction kit on my IS200 and it did make it a bit more responsive and had a lovely sound. I noticed the difference when I had it fitted and when I took it off to sell the car I noticed the car was slower. If it made any improvement to economy then it was too small to notice.
  18. Is there a reference number or URL or something for the ECU update? I asked my dealer about it when they serviced my car but they said they could find nothing about it.
  19. It depends if they have a paint shop which I'm guessing is an expensive investment. For example Reading/Bracknell Lexus/Toyota are part of the same group - Octagon and they share a paint shop at the Bracknell Toyota dealers. Perhaps some delaers out-source it to a local paint shop.
  20. Chips Away twice told me they couldn't match the colour (platinum ice) and refused the business.
  21. From the T&C: "don't break the law. Don't post about things that break the law, or that might encourage others to break the law." If you're gonna drive like a muppet then don't boast about it :duh:
  22. Until recently I had the perfect job then a greedy american company bought the one I worked for and replaced me with 1/2 a graduate in Bangalore. Now I'm an IT Contractor :)
  23. I drove like a grandad yesterday - real slow with lots of space in front of me, gentle on the brakes and on corners and had a very uneventful drive. I didn't miss the snow button as it didn't seem to make much difference on my old IS200. Thanks for the answer lexicon :)
  24. Anyone know why? I'd have thought that with all that torque it would need one more than the IS250.
