  1. You dont need a caddy just to access a disk - remove the lid from your machine and simply rest the disk on a folded over piece of paper and connect the leads to it in the normal way. It doesn't need to be bolted into anything to work...
  2. I noticed the 757 users yesterday. Up until yesterday the maximum was something like 600, from approx 2 years ago. Was someone doing some load testing on the site? Anyone have the official UK sales figures? I should think 17893 registered users must represent a fair proportion of all the Lexus cars ever sold here; they're just not that common, especially in the first few years... The IS200 I would imagine has been the biggest seller, and that didn't appear until 1999!
  3. I notice that reference doesn't include the Chiltern Green of my GS. Anyone know where else that colour was available? My GS brochure I've got from 2002 lists the colour as 'special build' in the back - which presumably makes it a pretty rare choice. I've only ever seen one other car in the colour in the metal, and only ever on 2 cars on the Lexus used cars website. Shame, it's a nice colour, slate grey in some lights and pale green in others. Enhances the 'Q-car' status quite nicely! :)
  4. That would be my suggestion too. You're obviously motivated, so go join a gym and talk to the staff there. That's why they're there - they'll be only too pleased to tell you what you need to do. But in general terms: cut the burgers and KFC you eat, grill rather than fry, have boiled spuds rather than chips, and eat more salad - especially when you're after a snack. Take up cycling or running, use the stairs rather than the escalator or lift, and most importantly find someone to go to the gym with - you'll egg each other on. Also be aware you won't see noticeable results in the mirror for a few months, and results are gradual even then - but when you meet someone you've not seen in a while, and they comment on how you've toned right up, it's worth it... ;-) Good luck mate!
  5. You getting some pics from the 'supplier' doesn't make the product real, so good luck... You've not yet denied having anything to do with marketing this product... It's a heck of a coincidence that you registered here on exactly the same day as that domain was registered?
  6. Well I'm glad you do - I think it's a complete rip off. £795 for a couple of strips of chrome? The whole site looks like a con to me - it's far too stylishly done with bugger all content. One single page, no real details, no proper photos on a variety of cars, pseudo-authentic looking 'vehicle(s) shown may feature optional equipment' statement at the bottom, - I doubt the grills even exist, frankly. The site is trying to pass itself off at first sight as some sort of official accessories supplier but contains multiple spelling errors, and to cap it all, the domain lexuses.co.uk was only registered on 17th April this year. To be avoided, until proven otherwise, methinks...
  7. What tyres do drifters use? Surely not brand new ones each time they go out - not only is that a bit wasteful, but it must get seriously expensive? So do they use part-worns, old ones that are low on tread, or what?
  8. Mmmm... that is quite smart! Wonder when/how much etc?
  9. Was it you? Saw a black 51 plate IS200 Sport with painted and Lexus-stickered calipers. Monday morning about 10-ish between M25 J10 and J11. I was in the greeny-grey GS430 in the middle lane, you were in the outside lane... Neither of us getting anywhere fast in that traffic!!
  10. Not exactly the request you were after, but: GS430SE, 80% motorway, 24mpg, 85-90 on motorway
  11. After all the comment recently about the best time to change the cambelts on the IS, I looked mine up yesterday. Although I have a 430 model, it's a common service schedule and it's due at 10 years / 100k miles. Incidentally, don't discount the 430 - it doesn't use a great deal more fuel, but goes have a good deal more power. Utterly effortless to drive... So keep an eye out, if a particular car is perfect for you except it has the bigger engine, don't be afraid to try it. The cost difference is not as great as you'd think. Is that Banff in Canada you're in, IDBAIN? If so, whilst you're more than welcome to post on here, there is a US forum which may be able to help you better with some questions. But welcome along anyway... ;)
  12. No one here wants to see your mrs pee on the LOC forum... :o OK I'll get ma coat..
  13. Bad for her, good for us! ssssshhhhhh No it works both ways apparently SSSSSSSSSSSHHHHHHHHHHHHHH FFS - some people just don't know when to keep their mouth shut do they! :winky:
  14. Bummer - sorry to hear that. I was gonna post something cheeky about how every is200 owner had 12 of them, thanks for asking, etc. You sure it's just the valves, and not the guides, tops of the pistons and the cylinder heads that are damaged? I guess that answers the question in the other thread about whether it's an interference engine or not!!
  15. mudzs is correct: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Automotive_li...#Rear_fog_lamps Maybe a post to the US forum would clear it up? It would certainly explain why they aren't mentioned in your manuals. Sod's law though isn't it? The one thing you need details on, isn't fitted to the spec of the cars your manual was written for...
  16. Windscreen washer jets are still there I think, it's the headlight ones in the bumper that have been removed?
  17. its bassed on a bike by an american builder, not occ but similar. Its very close to the original bike, im going to contact them first to see if they want the model as they might be prepared to pay the money :D Amazing model... ...but did the original have a combined rear sprocket and brake disk? Sounds like a potential suicide machine after applying chain lube - especially on a chopper where there is a heavy rear brake bias, what with the extended forks taking all the weight off the skinny front!!
  18. If it actually is non-interference, why all the panic and 'peace of mind' cam-belt changes? If it breaks, you break down and have to be towed to a garage where they will replace the belt and reset the timing. And that's it - no other damage. So why would Lexus suddenly recommend a very expensive 6 year change point, if the only problem would be a breakdown? But I'm far from convinced - gut feeling, and fluff34567's quote from the tech pages, suggests it's an interference design. Yemgi - could you quote the section that suggests otherwise? I believe the cut-outs are because the valve timings mean the valves are open as the piston approaches the very top of it's stroke, as opposed to being cut-outs to avoid valves that are stuck right down because of serious timing problems. Having an exhaust valve open as long as possible helps with exhaust gas scavenging from the chamber, and having an intake valve open as early as possible means being able to start loading the next charge of fuel-air as soon as the piston starts to drop on the intake cycle.
  19. Name and shame this thieving scumbag credit card company. That's appalling... :tsktsk: FWIW, neither my Mint (Mastercard), nor my Amex, charge a fee for foreign transactions. So if you do a lot of business with places abroad, get one of those to use.
  20. I wouldn't worry about a pigeon, its the other cars and possibly pedestrians you got the think about. I don't suppose he was worrying about the pigeon. At that speed it would go straight through the windscreen and probably kill the driver. Certainly it'd knock him out - and then 2 tonnes of high-speed steel could go absolutely anywhere.
  21. I don't have much call to stay in hotels in central London, but I can say that Thistle hotels are pretty good. Victoria is very central and has excellent tube and bus links, so access to West End shopping and entertainment certainly isn't going to be a problem if you stay there. Hyde Park isn't far away either - an easy walk or 10 minutes on the bus. Assuming that price is within your budget, you could do a lot worse... There is a very good route planner on www.tfl.gov.uk that tells you the best way to get from point to point within London - so if you're wondering if a particular hotel will be suitable, put it's postcode in and see how far away it is from hyde park, or wherever else you want to get to.
  22. And how the heck did you manage to snap a single stud in the first place?
