  1. I've done 4500 since December - I got my first stone chip driving from the dealer to my house and a small chip on the windsreen on the 2nd day !!! The roof has been hit at least twice - both times leaving a small scratch which luckily polished out eachh time. B
  2. Ok Groan ....... groan !!!! yet another post about stone chips.... I know this has been done to death and I have to say I am also amazed how easily my Lexus has chipped too, but ...... Has anyone else noticed that their Lexus appears to attract stones like a magnet? I have been driving for years and I cannot remember any car being hit by so many stones. The windscreen, the roof the bonnet - why?? I am driving on "normal" roads that I have driven on for ages but I have now had 6 or 7 really loud bangs on my roof and screen etc from stones thrown up from the road. This is the daft question - Does anyone think that there is something in the aero-dynamics of the car that almost "attracts" the stones to the car? Interested to know if anyone else has found this too. B
  3. I know there are several threads already about this but I am not sure if I the answer I am looking for is in any of the replies. On my Dec 02 IS 200 sport I lock the door with one press of the remote and engage the dead locks with a second press - and you hear another click. Ok.... you know all that already..... My question is - what if I press the remote a third or fourth time? I hear a click again but what is happening? Sorry if that is a stupid question - just curious!! Thanks in advance. B
  4. Andy hope this doesn't get me banned..... I drove a BMW 328 Coupe - and loved it. Swapped to the lexus because it was a bit more practical for everyday use. I have had my IS200 Sport for almost 2 months now and think it is great but .......This is the bit that may get me banned ........ I really did like my 328 and I do miss it a little bit (especially the extra power). .... OK I will leave now.......................................................... B
  5. PEBCAK Problem Exists between Chair and Keyboard - ie. YOU Sorry - did that give it away!! B
  6. Sounds like a good idea to me too. Would Lexus grumble about this in anyway? Invalidate warranty or anything? B
  7. Sorry to bring up an old post , but on the subject of mud flaps... Are they all the same colour or do you get them to match the car colour? A few people have said they are easy to fit - How easy is easy ?? Do you have to drill holes in your car or anything scary like that? Or are te holes or screws already on the car/mud flap? Thanks B
  8. Not wanting to be thrown in the looney bin with you but I too have seen the white circles on my boot - weird !! And I have a witness too !!
  9. Sorry if tis is opening up an old topic but - you say that you have winter tyres on your car - Have you swapped them over for winter or do you always use them. And second stupid question - how do you know if they are summer or winter tyres ? (I know that is probably a really stupid question !!!!) B
  10. I have only had my Lexus for a few weeks now - and I am very pleased so far. But I must admit to being a bit worried by a few of the posts that I have read about the performance in snow. Is it really that bad? Have you seen the weather forecast for the next few days in the UK? B
  11. Teddy I agree with you - The good thing far out weigh the MPG - and for me I knew what the MPG was before I bought it - but it was not a factor. Good discussion topic though !! B
  12. Dont get this post the wrong way - I am all for helping out if I can...... but...... I can't see how this helps anyone - what do they get out of it? Simply using my spare processor power surely isn't going to help them that much - is it? Please tell me if it is and how. I am on 1 meg broadband - If I can be convinced that someone can make use of this without risking any of my own data or privacy etc then I will sign up straight away. Just still cant see how this works - please educate me !! B
  13. Ricky I fell in (or out ??) of the Company car circus back in April when the tax laws were changed apparently for "green" issues. Most people i know have opted out of the car schemes and bought bigger engine cars. My company pays for my petrol so the MPG is not an issue - but I must admit If I was paying I would be a little bit concerned by the figures being quoted in this post - especially when you consider that you are not getting the trade off of expetional performance. By this I mean if it was a 0-60 in 5 or 6 seconds you wouldn't be bothered about the MPG. Good luck with your search for a diesel. B
  14. If MPG was a major factor I do not think that I would have bought an IS200 - Not trying to get peoples backs up with that comment - just stating the obvious - MPG is not its strongest point. My last car was a 328 coupe of the brand that we cannot mention here - Around town I would get 22 - 25 easy - A mixture of motorway and town I would easy average 30 to 35. I have only had my lexus for 2 weeks so I cannot pass comment yet about what I am getting - still running it in etc. B
  15. Mine is just above the rear view mirror. I will be getting it wired into the interior light cluster near the mirror. Had it like this in my last car - you can still unplug it just as easy but saves having the wire dangling down. It is also a bit more hidden rather than being on the top of the dashboard. Does make you lazy though and tend to leave it in the car plugged in - stupid or what ? £300+ and I leave it in the car. Must go and bring it in before I forget!! B
  16. Which snooper model have you got? I have a Snooper S5 - This advises to use a mode called "logic 3" in the UK and this filters out most of the unwanted alarms. It works fine for me. Probably get 500+ yards notice on most Gatso cameras. Useless on the new"digital" type of Cameras though - as a few of the other replies have mentioned these are not detected. Snooper has just released an S6 - which also combines the GPS info. I have had this in my last car for a year and it worked fine. Only had my IS200 for a week and I have not found the best location for it yet. If I have it too low the wipers are in the way and I only get 20 - 30 yards notice. Put it up near the rear view mirror and it is much better.
  17. Andy I picked up my new 200 sport this week too. I wasn't able to sqeeze much out of the the salesman either - mats and a chrome exhaust tip was about it. It has done nothing but rain since I got mine - no chance of washing it or anything yet!! good luck with your new toy. B
  18. Thanks I obviously already knew that - I was just checking that you did too !!! (Only joking !!) Thanks for the info - I knew it had to be something simple. B
  19. Apologies for this stupid question, but...... The spec sheet and brochure for the Is200 se and sport both say that they have 8 speaker hi fi systems - I can only see 6. 2 at the rear (Parcel shelf) - 2 in the front doors (1 in each) and 1 near each door mirror. Any idea where the other 2 are? B
  20. Matthew I live in Litherland (not far from Walton - 1-2 miles) - originally from West Derby. Thanks for the info. B
  21. I picked up my new IS 200 sport today from Lexus Liverpool. I have done over 120 miles today just trying it out. The first thing that I have noticed is how good the steering feels - so smooth and yet you feel in complete command. I was a bit unsure about which colour to pick but I am glad I picked the Granite Sky - it looks great. I did get the paintwork protection done on the car but I am unsure what brand they have used. I will check it out and let anyone who is interested know how it does. (Obviously wont be able to tell how good it is for a while yet.) Cant pass too much comment about performance etc yet as I have been driving it like an old granny today - and probably will be for the next week or two. I drove out the showroom and it looked great - 2 minutes later it started pouring down and didn't stop until 4 o'clock. At least I now know it doesn't leak and the wipers work fine!! Glad to say it was cold today - gave me a good opportunity to try out the heated seats - probablly end up looking like one of those monkeys with a big red bottom if I am not carefull !! A bit warm - a couple of settings would be nice. Overall - looks like it will be a great car - I will let you know how I get on over the next few days. Any running in tips would be appreciated. Thanks B :D :D
  22. Thanks for the info. I pick my car up tomorrow so I decided to get it done by the dealer before picking up the car. B
  23. Sorry for replying to my own question, but...... Spoke to a friend today who had his car treated with Supagard - he agrees with Mat - The shine is great - even after a quick wash. There are a few places on the web where you can buy a "home kit" but they reckon it takes about 5 - 8 hours to do it properly. It was about £50. more info at.. http://www.diamondautocare.co.uk/teflo.htm http://www.supagard.co.uk/ Dont know if this helps any. Thanks B
  24. Just ordered a new IS200 Sport and the salesman tried to sell me "Supagard" or something similar. Apparently this protects your paintwork and you do not need to polish the car for over a year (not sure if he said 3 years). It also protects it from things like bird droppings etc.. The inside is treated with a "scotchguard" type of stuff which stops any staines etc to the seats and carpets. I think it was about £200. Has anyone had any experience of this? Does it work? Is it worth £200? Thanks B
  25. Not sure yet - give it a few weeks to get used to it and to look around this group a bit for ideas. Any ideas welcome. B
