  1. I only use mine for amusement, ie I ask it to do heater control and it alters the sat nav or something else completely random and always make me laugh, cheers me up on a long journey. There is a list of commands it supposedly can manage (with no accent)
  2. Avoid, avoid, avoid. I tried it in a Lexus having previously used it in other cars with no problems but it killed the Lexus, complete nightmare. If it really worked why does NO car manufacturer offer it???? they would sell millions of cars with 1/2 price fuel but the few that tried have all given up. And yes I did fit flash lube and used petrol only for every 3rd fill up. Save your money and your Lexus.
  3. Hi Ray, I too am disappointed by the replies you have received on this forum, I understand your desire for a more connected car, whilst my 450h is a superb car it is no more than a series of computers flying in close formation and completely souless. You made me remember my Honda Accord 2.2 4 wheel steer with fondness. Good luck with your decision and a real shame about the mindless comments here. Regards Tony
  4. Me again, just noticed Chris's comment about spark plugs, I buy my service plan thru Synter Lexus and have never been charged for anything except brake fluid once in 160,000 miles of contract so they are not all the same and like Chris says read the small print.
  5. Hi John, sounds like you are to board cloud nine !!! Don't think LWB was a option on 460s ? most of the other ranges of that period SE L meant ALL the options leaving you to want for nothing. Full on fantastic car, I had one for a short while (SE L) found it to be superb and surprisingly good on fuel 22 in town and just over 30 on a run. Loved the self parking mode, it could parallel park itself in a tiny space way better than I could.( nearly as well as the wife can! who says ladies cant park!!!) I find Lexus service plans very good, not restricted by history but extended warranty may be if that's what you are also considering. The only issues I have noticed on here with 460s is steering racks playing up on I think 2 examples and they are a lot of money to replace but Lexus are quite helpful IF it has good Lexus history. Have you looked a LS600s? good price and lower road tax and there L means long but most L models only seat 4 persons. Enjoy choosing, welcome to LOC and best wishes for the New Year. Tony
  6. Good to see you back! Got to say I got a Merc S Class with half the mileage of my GS450h and whilst it still works OK it is nowhere near as nice or fresh as the Lexus, they really do not survive use as well, nor is it nice to drive!
  7. The only way is turn the heater up so the petrol fires up to heat the cabin, wont run for long though- that's the whole idea of a hybrid! No MOT emissions test for hybrids.
  8. Hi Anne, just wondering if you have checked the screen drains in the scuttle near the bonnet hinges, mine tend to block as I park near a hedge (now reverse up to it). Easy to check by pouring water and watching to see if it drains away freely. If blocked water from the screen is trying to penetrate the bulkhead into the footwell, which would explain only 1 side being wet? Doesn't need the screen to have been changed for this to happen, leaves will block the drains espically at this time of year. Hope you get sorted Tony
  9. Hi Greg, warm welcome LOC. Car look great, wot a colour combination! Hope I am wrong but I think some of these cars do not have guidance lines available on the screen, I think this topic has been covered some time ago. Enjoy the new motor, dealers in the main are very honest and helpful. Tony
  10. For the 1st time ever today my 450h showed 100% charged battery !!! Coming down off of the Yorkshire Moors using re generative braking/ manual downshift to avoid braking she showed full green battery status, didn't think it possible as I read they always keep some capacity spare.
  11. Hi Hayne, I run a 2006 GS450h as my working car, current mileage is almost 180,000 of which I have covered 160,000. To date no faults of any kind ! never broken down or caused a moments worry. The car still looks and drives like new which given the complexity is astounding. Ave MPG is 36 over every type of roads making this the cheapest nice car I have owned by a huge margin. And it still makes me grin with the performance every day.
  12. Hi Simon, I don't thing the noise is related to the valve spring re call, the problem was only a very few valve springs snapped, a spring only works or it doesn't ie snapped. My 450h has always sounded "raw" on startup and occasionally awful, I have learned to live with and ignore it as it seems no worse at almost 180,000 miles. I did get it checked at about 100,000 but Lexus said all normal/ I have kept mine under the Lexus warranty until next year when it is too old but really have had almost no issues except the usual rear brake calipers.
  13. Have you noticed how these cars resist wear and tear? Every switch on my 175,000 miler GS450h not only functions perfectly but they all look unused. I also own a S Class Mercedes with half the miles covered but the interior is really tired in comparison, especially the switches with the surface breaking down making them look and feel grubby. Will stay with Lexus in the future, keep looking at how affordable LS600h are becoming but hard to justify changing the GS with no faults!
  14. Ah different symptons to mine , once came on as soon as started and twice during a journey. Yes the grille badge is the sensor.
  15. Hi Simon, my 2006 450h SE L has done exactly this 3 times, "cruise not available" & "check PCS system" each time it has rectified itself within a day or so. I just continued driving as was not near a Lexus centre to get it checked out. Now not seen it for about 30,000 miles so thought no more about it. Will be interesting to see if your does the same. Best wishes Tony
  16. Good point, now you have mentioned it I realize the same applies to my 450h, maybe drips it onto the hot exhaust? Also never had to re gas mine in 5 years and 175,000 miles,Still too cold even in the recent heat wave. Quality motor.
  17. no symptoms to the car, just your bank account.
  18. Hi, my 06 GS450h has had the rear calipers changed for this reason at least 3 times!!!!, I have always bought the extended warranty so just let them get on with it but have never felt and difference with the brakes, seen excessive corrosion or felt the rear brake discs to be hot so I believe they work just fine. Wont happen again as the car is too old this year to buy the warranty again. This has been about the only fault in the car's history so not too upset, everything still works like new which is a huge achievement given the complexity of all the systems.
  19. Hi, I recently posted pictures of my GS450 h at 170,000 which I know is not massive but with no faults it proves the hybrid doubters wrong. Proved to be a great car and cheap to run with no repair or off road costs. I never tire of this car or plan to change it,still makes me grin most days.
  20. I run . Rolls Royce Silver Spirit which is the same as the Bentley but without the turbo whilst it looks fantastic in Royal Blue it drives like a boat meaning very slow progress, a trip out in my GS450 h is a absolute pleasure after the Rolls! Also run a Mercedes S Class which sits between the two in every aspect. They both make me release how brilliant Lexus cars are,and affordable to run.
  21. A later disc 2009? will allow you to input address on the move but only speed dials are allowed on the phone. I had a Lexus I pod kit fitted to mine and gotta say I am very pleased with it.
  22. it is a great colour, doesn't show the fen mud where I live, not everybodys choice I know but having been a undertaker years ago I will never buy a black car!
