  1. 2 ariel feeds into the back of the unit,1 sat nav other aerial, quite easy to remove comlpete unit to check, yes the HRW element is the aerial.
  2. The 450h engine is direct injection and so sounds awfull when 1st started from cold, mine is no worse after 160,000 miles, the sound only lasts fo a few seconds but dont be put off ,its normal. Some users complain about creaks from the dash and seats but mine is fine, overall I am still thrilled with it after all these miles.
  3. Hi, a SE gets almost all the toys but a SE L is the full monty by adding Adaptive cruise control with Pre crash safety and sunroof. Good luck finding one, don't think you will ever regret it, everybody raves about them. Regards Tony
  4. Hi David,I had exactly the same issue with my 450h (wheels know a star design) I was quoted £30 each for new spokes which added up to £600 !!!! Tried to get mine re plated but then looked closley at why mine looked so rough and cloudy, it was no more than road salt had got under the lacquer causing it to lift and buddle/discolour. Also a few kerbing incidents made all the wheels look very rough.Booked her into my local paint shop who repaired the rims and rubbed the plastic chrome spokes down with wire wool and re polished them,I think he charged me £80 per wheel but they look brand new again which aint too sad after 160.000 miles! Regards Tony
  5. Well my present Lexus garage said it had been previously damaged and badly repaired so I have gone back to the Lexus garage I bought it from 4 years ago saying there was no way I could have known this when I agreed to buy the car. They have asked for photos of the affected door. As the car was only 2 years old with low mileage and HPI clear I argue it should be covered by the corrosion warranty, watch this space!
  6. Afternoon all, has anybody on here ever tried to claim on the 12 year corrosion warranty? my2006 GS 450 has developed quite a few sores on the front passenger door which are clearly not caused by damage to the paintwork, she is in at MK today for a service so I asked them to look into this but they seem worried because she has done a few miles. Hope to hear the answer this afternoon so will post the results here later.
  7. Hi Keith and a warm welcome to LOC, good choice of wheels my identical model to yours is now on 160,000 miles with no faults or VOR time. Turned out to be the cheapest car I have ever used for work because of this and good fuel consumption figures. Enjoy! Regards Tony
  8. If you do buy make sure it is for 2 years as this stops them putting it up after 1 year. The warranty is sold by and appears to be a Lexus product but is actually by a 3rd party called twg services limited (yes lower case may tell you what they are about!) Almost every claim my dealer has submitted has been refused but the back down real easy, muppets! It really annoys me they will not say about wear and tear if it reduces a claim, the small print is pathetic and clearly they dont read it. I have argued 4 claims and they have backed down every time and so saved me cash but you must be prepared to argue hard, I have just gone for another year on my 160K 2006 GS450h only because the complexety of the hybrid system but they now want £995 for the year. Good luck Tony
  9. Have you "fed" the leather? it does keep it soft and suple so less likley to creak or is more serious ie the fittings?
  10. On my 2006 GS I had the motion lock but when I bought a newer navigation disc (2009? I will check this if you need me to) it went away so now allows me to input fresh destination on the move but will this work on a GenII? Could try my disc in your car if you are ever down my way,Just south of Norman Cross on A1. Regards Tony
  11. yes you do get touch screen control and track/artist listing but not when the wheels are turning, use the up and down keys on steering wheel/ audio facia. Supplied and fitted by Lexus centre about £120??
  12. Hi my 2006 GS450h SE L will play DVDs, engine off and parking brake applied?
  13. Yes import duty plus VAT, sorry can not remember how much but it just would not work,I even employed an auto electrician to fit it, he also gave up. Lost all sound output (sat nav, phone and audio) when connected. Later got Lexus M.K. to fit I Pod kit which works wizzard at much less cost.
  14. Hi, glad to see another of these amazing cars near to me. I tried a Vaistech in my 450h SE L 2006 but could not get it to work so lost all the import duty on a refund! Timing chain so no huge service, just alternates A or B services. Small boot, brilliant no family airport runs! Only other tip "ENJOY"
  15. I think the only way out is to put all 4 TPMS valves into your spare wheel then re inflate spare making the system think pressure is ok in all 4 wheels, may "rattle " a bit when using the spare!
  16. Oh yes, but be assured they (Lexus ) farm it out to a insurance company, but the dealers are really good at processing any claims ( at least till it gets refused then you wade in)
  17. Watch them on the extended warranty, they tried to refuse my rear caliper claim saying " gradual deteriation is not covered" !! Argue hard, they always crumble and back down. Muppets! I think my 06 450h has had 5 or 6 rear calipers so it just keeps happening. The extended warranty is sold by but not undewritten by Lexus so it really is just another dodgy insurance policy but they HATE it if you complain to Lexus Customer Services. Good luck Tony
  18. I got a feeling we have heard of this on this forum about 2? years ago,if you search back you should find it,struck me as strange then they could or will not change parts on the rack. Good luck, got my prayer mat out for you. Regards Tony
  19. Hi guys, my GS450h did this about 3 years ago, stayed on for 2 days till Lexus could check it out (although everything was working OK by the displays) then went off on the way to the dealer, they said it needed a software update and (touch wood ) it has not happened again for 120,000 miles so dont despair. I think it was during cold weather.
  20. The bulb holder is about 10 inches long my only issue was turning it enough to draw the bulb out of the holder. Sorry cant remember exactly but it wasn't difficult just fiddley.
  21. you are welcome, I ran my 300 Sportcross up to 130,000 with no faults and in fact only sold it then because as a 2nd car for the wife to go shopping in is was too juicy,I really liked the car. The only trouble I have ever had with a high mileage car was a GS300 only because I tried a LPG conversion which really did not suit the engine, keep them standard they just go on and on.
  22. Hi Jason, not quite the same but close in that my GS450 h hybrid with the same technology is almost on 160,000 with no faults (said touching wood!) She still charges quickly and holds her charge at least as well as when I bought her with less than 20,000 on the clock. I believe there was a inverter issue on some early RX400s but may be covered by Lexus? worth checking out before you buy. I have found the hybrid to be a really cheap car to run with almost no faults and no time off the road plus pretty good MPG,reasonable road tax but have just lost my congestion charging relief. Hope this helps, Tony
  23. Here you go fellas, by the way a Rolls Royce owner NEVER calls his car a Roller (so I was told by a indignant dealer) Never too old to learn!
  24. Evening all, have I gone mad? just taken delivery of a beautifulll 1992 Rolls Royce Silver Spirit in metallic Royal blue with Magnolia hide (starting a wedding car hire business in Cambridgeshire) looks fantastic but drives like a Thames barge after the 450h. We dont reliase how good these modern cars are! Oh and 17MPG may get 20 at a steady 56MPH and only about 230 BHP ( they wont say exactly) Don't think it weighs much more than the Lexus but I guess the 6.75 litre engine needs plenty fuel, glad I got the high econmy fuel injection 4 speed auto model not the old twin SUs with 3 speed gearbox!
  25. Its not as hard as you think, concentration is the key,as soon as you let your mind wander to other matters you fail to notice potential hazzards, the commentary thing is only speaking your thoughts.I never bothered to master the "IAM speak" just prefering to say it as it is.
