  1. Front tyres shot, my GS450h is a real handfull when the front tyres are old(30,000 ish) still good tread but un drivable! I had bad problems with Pirelli Zeros so switched back to Dunlops, no more bother but now allways fit new tyres to the front and run old ones off on the rears.
  2. Strange how every other manufacturer can do it with out loosing space, we got a cheap Citroen C4 3door here with a clever armrest which opens up for storage and cup holders, this is done to cut costs in the hope we will not notice. Pah !
  3. Used a loan CT this week and was amazed to see no rear armrest, thinking back I think my Ford Anglia was about the last car with just a rear bench seat, are they all like this or am I missing something ?
  4. I would be tempted to demand they take you out in your car and so prove how they achieve these figures.
  5. Hi Brian, by Lexus do you mean Lexus Milton Keynes? if so I find Paul in service reception to be most helpfull and a true gentleman, worth talking to if not already done so. Regards Tony
  6. Thats exactly what I said after 200K in a Omega converted by my man,in fact he even suggested I buy a Lexus to convert, but it was a COMPLETE disaster, 2 engine re builds later I gave up and bought a hybrid.
  7. Hi Luki, a very warm welcome to LOC, please be very carefull re LPG, some folk seem to get away with it but others, myself included come un stuck big time even with flashlube and i tank of petrol to 3 of LPG, ruined my 300 !
  8. Hi, my 450h came with a set of P.Zero Pirreli which suffered really badly from tramlining when older, I called Pirreli and was told these tyres are not recommened for your car so switched it back onto Dunlop as supplied new, find these excellent, new onto front for 20K then run them off on the rears where they last another 25K, can't say how they compare for noise because I like the audio loud but they have never let go or caused my any moments.
  9. According to my May 2001 broucher HIDs are only standard on a SE model 450, my 2002 GS 300 SE did not have HIDs but my 2002 300 Sportcross does have them. Enjoy the new motor, Regards Tony
  10. Glad you got home safely, I thought the weight of the battery pack would aid traction in snow, how wrong I was,now just stay home when it snows. Enjoy the new motor. Regards Tony
  11. Me again, thats a rare and full spec 450h SE L, they dont come with all these toys now, adaptive cruise control will blow you away! I use it all the time and feel very safe as the car looks out for me and brakes if it senses trouble.
  12. No not mad at all! awsome car with decent fuel consumption once you learn the hybrid driving method. Mine has managed an average of 36MPG over the last 120K since I last re set the computer. The only real downside is the tiny boot and no ski flap. They do seem very reliable and good build quality, mine has turned out to be the cheapest car I have owned over the last 3 years and still makes me grin most days with its astonishing acceleration. It is a very complex motor and for that reason I buy a extended warranty from Lexus for peace of mind, offset against the depreciation it seems good value at about £1000 per year. Go drive it, its a lot different to those others you mention!
  13. Oh dear, deep sympathies you just lost the 3 favourite features on my car which I know are almost impossible to replace thats exactly why mine must keep running. Good luck Tony
  14. Hi, keep your eye on this as that power socket should switch off with the ignition, mine has phone charger, DAB tuner and fridge always connected and never sounds the alarm when I hit the power button to switch off and lock the car. Glad you are enjoying this truly amazing car, I have never tired of mine even into 4th year of owning it and 125 K miles, still makes me grin every day. Take care Tony
  15. Try Lexus Milton Keynes, they were a lot less than Hatfield for my service plan, just off M1 and really helpful, they drive 55 miles to collect my car, always turn up and return the car spotless, done the last 6 services on mine, without any issues.
  16. T10 W5W 501, quite fiddley to change but then mine blew several normal bulbs so well worth doing as these are supposed to be long lasting, the standard ones only look sad because they are sited in the main beam light unit so can be seen on dip all the time.
  17. Hi Paul and a warm welcome to LOC. I thought exactly the same re yellow side light bulbs and so tried a pair of LED, it seems you need "error free ones" apparently because LED draw so little current they will upset the system so these error free ones have a small resistor which overcomes the problem and have worked perfectly in my 450h, as you say much smarter. Capless bulbs, plently on ebay at about £5 the pair. Enjoy the new motor. Regards Tony
  18. Hi, as said by the previous poster you car should be too new to require this work but that aside my 06 450h had the job done at about 85,000 it made no difference to the consumption figures and to this day has never returned less than 33MPG on any tankfull. Suggest to contact lexus@vehiclerecalls.co.uk and discuss it with them, something is very wrong with the car.
  19. I bought my 450h with just 20K on the clock, it now shows 135K and the service garage have just advised me will soon need front discs and pads. As far as I know these are still the pads and discs fitted in the factory when the car was built which means they are made of decent quality steel as there is no shimmey under braking. I do use the tiptronic to slow the car and avoid "living on the brakes" but the adaptive cruise control hits the brakes fairly hard when I get mugged on the motorways. Anybody out there had brakes last much longer?
  20. Hi Chris, familiar story here, I also converted a Omega V6 to LPG and ran it for 200,000 miles with few problems, then asked Gastech for advice on a fresh motor, GS300 they advise so off I went buying a 2002 Se (same engine as your Sportcross) and had it converted with Flashlube. Complete disaster, numerous breakdowns ( I can never forget complete shutdown in lane 4 of the M25 near Heathrow) and 2 engine rebuilds later I gave up and bought a GS450 hybrid for work and a Sportcross to take the dog out, at last reliable cars again. Because the Omega ran so well or so long I am sure Gastech fit good kit and know what they are talking about but the GS NEVER ran sweetly on LPG. Hope this helps you to avoid making the same mistake as I made. Regards Tony ( worried for the health of your Sportcross )
  21. Hi, I imported a Vaistech unit for my 06 450h SE L, paid all the import duty and had a professional car audio technician to fit it, it refused to work at all, sent it back so I had Lexus Milton Keynes fit the Lexus approved I Pod connector in the centre box (beside my Pure DAB tuner) this works really well except no shuffle option so you have to create playlists. I think it was about £200. Works well with all the controls but the screen greys out when the car is moving. I think other kits are available ( Dice?) but after the drama I just wanted a easy solution. Enjoy the car, you will! I still really rate mine after 3 years and 135,000 miles Regards Tony
  22. Hi mac if you go back on this forum and read about LPG you will see numerous problems way outweighing any savings, I tried it and killed my MK 2 GS 300, do yourself a favor and be very carefull, I did have flashlube fitted but it still blew up twice, YUK
  23. Not to my knowledge ( limited!!!) I know they draw air down thru the rear parcel shelf to cool but heated? Worked fine thru all last years snow, I mean the batteries not the traction.
  24. Hi Richard my 450 h did exactly this 3 years and 100,000 miles ago, because my local dealer was very unhelpfull saying they could not look at it for a few days I decided to drive it down to Hatfield the next day, by the time I got there all the warnings had gone off, they said it needed a software update which was performed and to this day (touch wood!) have had no more bother. It has been a really good strong car but I do keep it under a warranty because there is a lot to go wrong. Good luck Tony
