  1. No not a saint, use the gearbox to slow the car, less black front wheels and more energy harvested back into the batteries. Just fitted the second set of disc pads at just 195,000 miles. Guess that's why she has averaged 36 MPG since new.
  2. Sorry spellchecker got me, ignore the please and swop tramlining for training
  3. Dunlop Sport Maxx for me (as fitted by factory) mine came to me on Pirelli Please Zeros but suffered chronic training after a fairly short mileage. I contacted Pirelli technical department asking why I was having severe handling issues to be told very curtly ". These tyres are neither designed for or tested on the 450h" Back on Dunlop at £139 per corner, no problems and 40,000 per set.
  4. Keep feeding it, leather care balm contains oils to keep it soft and supple, clean and feed it every month reduces cracking, if you look at the drivers seat there is come creasing on the bolster but nowhere is it worn through. Temperature changes are huge, very hot when locked up in the sun to below zero in the winter so the leather needs to be kept soft. Almost on 200K now, target 300K, still no issues apart from very slight oil mist from 1 front damper but no shame given the state of the fenland roads where I live.
  5. Here I sit in my 195,000 miler GS450h wondering why you consider 40,000 high. I could probably justify monthly payments but never a balloon payment, but then we are all different. These cars are fantastic quality and capable of huge mileage with no problems, particularly with a stonking V8 motor, but then we all suffer temptation for wheeled vehicles, 2 or 4 in my case. Good luck with your decision, Slightly jealous coz I aint got a IS-F Tony
  6. just reposted this as I read comments re cream leather soon looking old and difficult to clean.
  7. Wife checking tyre pressures??? where did I go so wrong! Please don't tell us she washes it as well.
  8. Anybody else seen this offer ? If your traction batteries pass the healthcheck Lexus will warranty them for 12 months! £55 or free with a service, this shows the company's confidence as a battery pack is rumoured to be over £2 K, mine passed today with over 190,000 on the clock. This must help all the owners who worry about their batteries.
  9. Mlne is a 2006 GS450h SE L as seen in my picture from my bedroom windows (not a townie me) Another brilliant feature of a hybrid is no emission test for MOT, surprising how much peace of mind that gives having just watched a diesel revving its nuts off trying to get down to a pass level. The only downside is a whine from the CVT, when you request acceleration it revs the petrol engine to max output and adjusts the ratio to suit, doesn't sound good but means the car flies.
  10. Sorry Allan, didn't mean to be stroppy, just protective of a awesome machine. Still make me grin every day afterall those miles. These batteries are no bother, they will even still warranty mine after a free hybrid health check. The only new battery mine has had is in the key.
  11. I have had 190,000 trouble free miles motoring from mine, great performance, economy and reasonable RFL.Used to be congestion charge exempt but that perk has gone. One set of disc pads is about all, oh apart from rear calipers changed under warranty which I feel could have been freed up. Cheapest and nicest car I have ever owned. That's why !!
  12. Have you priced up new spokes? I did a couple of years ago then they were £30 each plus VAT £720 !!! Mine did come off with a tap after removing 2 X small 8mm? nuts, mine just needed wire wool, came up really well.
  13. That's me, now on 191,000 with no issues, still charges and holds charge as well as ever, interestingly (well to me anyway, yes I know I am a saddo!) Lexus M.Keynes are offering a free 12 month traction battery warranty if your car passes the hybrid health check, normally £59 but free with a service at the moment, thats a really cute deal and probably will cost them nothing. Got mine booked in but then they have serviced mine 20 times. I see one 450h on Autotrader states it had new hybrid batteries, not sure.
  14. If it's any help to you I bought a 20,000 miler GS450 hydrid 5 years ago as my every day driver, now on 191,000 with no issues, batteries charge as quickly and hold the charge as well as ever,I do consider a LS 600 but can not justify a change as the GS still performs perfectly. I extended the Lexus warranty until no longer offered but am now running on a prayer.
  15. Mavis the Airdale is jealous having been downgraded to a Honda Jazz, she liked the Sportcross floor set to high giving a better view out and I think the Lexus badge helped her image! Good luck with the new motor.
  16. Try leaving her in park and so not applying the parking brake, if it don't happen it must be the parking brake releasing, oh and welcome to LOC ( really miss my 300 Sportcross)
  17. Don't you worry about the dog, we got a huge Airedale who rode in the back of our Sportcross quite happily, in fact has never settled so well in any other car. Fuel consumption in ours (300) was fine unless driven really hard,Enjoy
  18. I think this problem is more the other end not yours, I mean the signal is weaker than it used to be, maybe because so many formats are now offered? My GS450 uses the HRW element to receive FM signal and now drops off most days even near cities and often on motorways, often making it impossible to listen to the radio, never used to have this problem even back in the 80s and 90s with far less sophisticated car radios.
  19. Although this warranty is sold by and looks every bit Lexus it is underwritten by a entirely different company who squirm like mad to get out of any claim but cave in easily if you can write a decent letter, shame really but that's the normal conduct for any insurance company, If you buy get a quote for 2 years as this stops them increasing the premium after 12 months.
  20. Hi Dom, have you thought about a GS450h, now available at good price, low RFL and good fuel consumption?
