  1. i agree, but whereas engines are probably pretty much run-in, the transmission and brakes etc won't be.
  2. I can't believe the power output changes, I think it's just the shift pattern thats altered, but it does feel slightly more responsive to the throttle as I said in a previous post.
  3. also before you turn the engine off, put it in neutral, this leaves the radio on, then you can put it in Park.
  4. The ECT power on, gives you more power, so you're saying the engine mapping or whatever is change to increase power? What power is produced in normal mode? I presume 204bhp is prodused in 'power' mode.
  5. It took me a while to figure this out. if the intermittant rotating thing is set to most frequent then the wipers don't change to intermittant when you stop.
  6. not sure if it's just in my mind, but it seems to slightly sharpen up throttle response, but could just be my imagination.
  7. i couldnt find details about running period. just kept it chilled out for first few hundred miles.
  8. I scuffed the lower edge of my bumper the other day, it's only the bit below what looks like a join line. Does anyone know if this part is replaceable and if so any idea of cost?
  9. yes its lockable, and i believe in one break-in test it resisted break-in for something like 5 minutes before they gave up.
  10. I've had minimal experice with BMW, maybe it's because they sell so many 3 series they aren't bothered about a few customers, whereas Lexus are bothered and make the effort. The Lexus dealer I've dealt with most (Southampton) aren't perfect, but no one is, but I am highly impressed with them.
  11. i had 3 of mine stolen when i popped into tesco's for 15 minutes. Thieving scum.
  12. I don't have the multimedia thing and I don't miss it at all. £2700 (?) way too much
  13. the thought of a S2000 came to me today, i see it has already been suggested. Group 20 insurance might be hard to swollow. Budget wont stretch to a decent Exige unfortunately. Running costs are fairly irrelevant as mileage will be minimal. Budget for buying is upto / around £10000
  14. I'm considering buying a car for weekend playing. Does anybody here have one? what have you got? would you recommend it? I'm looking to buy something for next year, trying to decide whether I want something hardcore like an Elise or slightly softer like an MX-5. Practicality doesn't come into it, it will be purely a toy.
  15. When I see a Mercedes or BMW that has no badges I immediately presume it's the base model.
  16. My IS250 reads a lot over, about 10%, which is dissapointing. Our Honda Jazz reads spot on all the way up to 100mph (the most I've had out of it)
  17. I'm in a similar position, I got rid of my Nissan 350Z and bought a IS250. Nissan was an astonishing car, performance was brutal, but the IS is better as an all round car, although I do miss the acceleration from time to time.
  18. every car i've ever had with metal dust caps have had them stolen. usually 2 at a time, so guessing it's kids for their bikes.
  19. Masters of ALL we DON'T control... Keep us posted as to its usefulness, I would be interested in a setting that is appropriate...a bit surprised they haven't done the Volvo trick of lights always ON. I must say, after a 2 week holiday in Denmark last year, I really wouldn't have a problem driving with lights on all the time.
  20. when the lever is in sport mode the 4 you see indicates the maximum gear the car will go into. it isn't a true semi-auto, all you can do is lock out higher gears. It just defaults to 4 for some reason. (eg set it to 2 and it will use 1st and 2nd. set it to 4 and it will use 1, 2, 3 and 4. etc etc) Go through the trip computer and you'll see another set of numbers indicating the actual gear the car is in. Oh yeah, and max torque is somewhere above 4000rpm
  21. I find the Auto headlights don't come on early enough. I see that this and many many other things can for some reason only be adjusted by a dealer. I know I can just phone up, but has anyone had any of these settings altered? How long does it take, do they charge and why can't Lexus let us change them, I used to have a Mercedes and could change almost any setting I liked. Cheers
  22. lovely car, shame about the depreciation
  23. Tell him to look out of the window, enjoy the scenery
