  1. Sorted - got all my creature comforts back. Lesson learnt - don't keep coins in ash tray and leave cigarette lighter in socket!!
  2. Does anyone know if the fuses for the aircon/climate control panel and the radio cassette unit are on the same fuse and if so whether it is in the engine bay fusee box or in the one in the drivers footwell. I keep coins for parking in my ash tray and noticed that a five pence piece had found its way into the cigarette lighter socket so I hope this has caused a short of some sort.
  3. Send them to Lepsons in Gillingham or better still take them to Eden Park Motorist centre near Catford bus garage SE London and they will do it for you. Most quality car dealers/repairers in SE London and Kent use Lepsons. Cost 18 months ago was about £60/wheel +vat with extra £15+vat if the lip of the rim needed rebuilding. That was for oem GS300 Mk1 alloys. Hope this is of help.
  4. Lee I should have mentioned that at the bottom of the metal mast is a sprung sleeve arrangement that stops the metal mast from coming out once in place. When you have got the plastic inner bit out just carefully pull and twist the metal mast part. Mine was broken so I just pulled it out with a pair of needle nose pliers.
  5. Lee I replaced mine after I went through a car wash with the arial up. My original mast snapped and all that was left was the plastic insert. I just unscrewed the metal nut that retains the mast removed the remainder of the metal mast, turned on the radio to remove/eject the plastic insert. I then just teased out the surplus taking note of how it came out, turned off radio and inserted the new plastic insert and mast. When I was happy that it had located properly I refixed the mast nut and got my little helper to turn the radio on and off a couple of times whilst I checked the operation of the mast. All worked fine and took no more than a half hour. Guess I may have been lucky that it all worked out ok.
  6. I have got a black vinyl badge about 35mm x 15mm with sport in same script as decals in rear quarter lights. I doubt it is standard.
  7. I think Tony is spot on. Mine used to do it, but you get used to it after a while and I've got 275 wide boots on he rear of mine. I believe Tony adjusted the geometry on the rear of mine cost I was eating tyres on the rear.
  8. Craig I use 275-35-18's on mine, same size as on BMW M3/M5's. I have heard of people using 255 width tyres also which are a touch cheaper. Hope this helps.
  9. If I remember correctly you can really only use an HiD conversion kit if you have headlamps with 'projector' type lamps, my Mk1 GS has them and I have converted to HiD, no problems at MOT time cos I have headlamp washer and manual levelling, both of which are pre-requisites for using HiD bulbs. Most modern Audi's, BM's and Mercs have such kit normally with HiD's as standard.
  10. Tht's my inderstanding too, I've got the pressed aluminium plates (ally letters and numbers with black painted background) on my tax exempt 1971 MGB V8 Roadster. 31 December 1972 was the cut off point.
  11. I am no expert but would say yes! An Aristo expert will no doubt be along soon to advise you. Keith
  12. Mike If you get no joy I got a set off the US Ebay site from a guy who shipped to the UK. If I remeber correctly I paid about £40 for a pair plus about a tenner for postage. It was a while ago now, but there does seem to be a lot more parts available at sensible prices in the US even when you take account of postage costs, and the dollar exchage rate is good. For comparison when I fitted my new ones when I open the boot from the release in the car it pops open a touch and then with just a little help it opens fully. Keith
  13. Gran Tourismo is tops by far for me. I was also hooked on the PC game Zool a few years back when my kids were younger. Anyone remember it, same era as the first Sonic's and Mario Bros games.
  14. Wow!! That's cool mate. If you get bored next week at work can you do a Mk1 GS300 too!! You have a talent there that's worth something. All the best
  15. Hi Stevie I would certainly be interested in the spring. By reference to detailing do you mean what I understand as valeting? I have a dark blue GS300 with a couple of minor paint scuffs a few minor scratches the usual stone chips on the bonnet and front bumper and a scratch on the bonnet that you can feel with a finger nail (it's not down to the primer though). Incidentally whereabouts are you, I am near Bromley. Would your paint revival process help with the scratches etc. I hope to get the minor scuffs sorted soon. Keith
  16. Try Lepsons in Gillingham, Kent. I always use them and they offer great service and were competitive on price.
  17. Mk1 would be my choice but like other members I too prefer the more rounded shape of older cars. If you want a superb Mk1 around your price range I think there may be a member on here looking to sell.
  18. Hi There was a set of original 9 spoke 10" rears and 8.5" front originals on Ebay recently, still there I think?
  19. Me too!! Compliments of the season and a prosperous New Year to you all!!
  20. I doubt it will be the stop light bulb problem. I kept getting blown bulbs but when I started using Phillips bulbs rather than cheepies from Halfords no problems since. Next likely cause is battery, may be overcharging causing drying out of cells or even shorting. But as you say battery is new best to get alternator checked out. I would also check earthing points too.
