  1. Yeah you are almost correct. Wing mirror is fixed by three bolts only one of which is accessible from behind the tweeter. To get proper access you need to remove the upper part of the door card (ie the section that is same colour as dash etc) Really need a manual, so will have to try the US forum as they seem to be more accessible to owners over there. Cheers Keith
  2. Hi all Need to remove my damaged wing mirror to fit replacement. Can anyone offer any advice on how to remove the upper portion of the door card to access the mirror fixing bolts on a Mk1 GS300. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Keith
  3. Having had no luck with finding just the casing to repair my wing mirror, finally bit the bullet and bought a secondhand replacement for silly money with a sport grille thrown in which I have been searching for for the best part of 18months. Perhaps those 10" rear wheels will turn up soon....wishful thinking! All I need now is a source of decent paint to colour code the replacements to my car. I have tried Halford's in the past but have expeienced both poor and good quality from their made to order car paints. Does anyone have any recommendations for suppliers/factors in SE London?
  4. I am bidding for some replacement gas struts for my boot. Can anyone tell me if the boot should pop open when released. At the moment I have to open mine by lifting up with the spoiler and it normally slams shut if I am not careful.
  5. Hi all Some inconsiderate soul has hit my drivers side wing mirror and has shattered the surround around the rim of the mirror glass. The main mirror skeleton is ok. Has anyone got a spare that they may be willing to part with or know a second hand parts supplier that I could try to get a replacement. I expect Lexus will only sell the whole mirror as a replacement part. Any help appreciated
  6. Hi Craig Sad news indeed. Looking at GS prices at the moment you surely could get another. If you don't mind me asking I may be interested in a few parts depending on what you can remove without your insurance company knowing. Let me know what you may have going. All the best for 2005 Keith
  7. Hi Craig I missed your story. Sorry to hear about your situation. I would not give up on the car, anything is possible these days and if you know where to look parts can be sourced. Hope you get it sorted soon. All the best Keith
  8. I noticed this weekend that my boot was heavier to open than usual and today nearly amputated my arm when it dropped for no aparrent reason. Does anyone know if the stuts fail that quickly. Are replacements available and are they easy to fit.
  9. Hi chib I had these on my Mk1 GS300, paid around £100/tyre fitted. Nice looking tyre and directional tread pattern. The problem I had was that I only got barely 7,000 out of the rears . I also found them very poor in the wet, but great in the dry. They just did not suit my driving style and seem unsuited to a rear wheel drive car. I have now switched to Dunlop SP 01's which are a great tyre, far far more grippy on the rear in the wet.
  10. Hmm...I am running mine at 32psi and the ride is rock hard, although I have just changed tyres to Dunlop SP1's. Would the ride be even harder if I up pressures to 35/36?
  11. Thanks Guys They are the optional 17" IS wheels.
  12. Hi Can anyone help with this query. I PM'd Chris Shipley a while ago but have yet to receive a response. Any help appreciated. Thanks
  13. Can anyone tell me what make this wheel is and what size it may be available in. I think it would suit my MK1 GS300 but it would need to be at least 18"
  14. I have not tried them yet, will be getting them fitted this weekend.
  15. Have taken the plunge and decided to go for Dunlop Sport 01's in favour of the Hancook's I have been using for the past 2 years. I am told that the compound is much harder and I should get at least 20,000+ out of the rears even with my heavy right foot.
  16. Hi Mudzs Alas I have the standard sport wheels, sigh. What Pirelli's do you have? I may give them a try. I use a small fitter who takes care and time and always does a superb job. He will source anything I ask him for. I know he has used Mytyres in the past. Cheers
  17. Just clocked up 10,000 miles on my rear tyres Hankook Ventus Sports. Noticed today that they are down to wear indicators so time to get some new ones. I will replace with same as they are fairly good for price at around £250/pair fitted and balanced. Just thought I'd ask if anyone knew of any deals on with major suppliers at moment.
  18. Looks smart Steve! Alex: can I have one too please!!! ( You can ship with my grille you are working on, by the way is there any further progress?)
  19. Thanks guys. Yep it was a bulb, had booked car into garage so have just saved at least £75!! Now, I presume to replace the bulb the whole rear light cluster has to be removed.
  20. Just driven back from Coventry and brake warning light came on about 70miles from London. Stopped at service station checked brake fluid level and resevoir for leaks, all appeared ok. Checked wheels for signs of siezed callipers, excessive heat etc all seamed ok. had a look in handbook and only reference appeared to suggest carrying out a 'check' rather than the 'take car to Lexus dealer' warning so completed journey On way back listened out for any funny noises or uneven braking and all seemed ok. I am hoping its just a warning to replace pads and have booked car in for brake inspection. Has any one had similar experience, should I be concerned?
  21. Thanks for the response Colin. Does anyone else know how to adjust the operation of the Mk1 bootlid as at the moment mine will not stay open and slams shut.
  22. If you are concerned about the 10" rears just sell 'em to me! Yes, still looking for a pair after some 18 months. Looks like I will have enough pennies soon to buy a pair of new ones, if they are still available that is!!
  23. Carl Have a word with the guys at TDI and have a look at their website. They used to do a turbo kit for about six grand fitted if I remember correctly
