  1. You're correct (as you already know) they are indeed illuminated. I remembered to look whilst going up the M40 earlier. *note to self - keep eyes on road! :D
  2. The dealer can tell you but if the fuel filler switch is side by side and illuminated it is 07 spec alan quite a number of 'old' 56 platers out there The boot release and the fuel filler release are side by side (as opposed to one above the other as shown in the manual) but I don't think they are illuminated.
  3. Out of curiosity - how can you tell when the car was built? What do you look at? Mine was a 'stock' car but is only 6 weeks old to me. Poor fuel economy at the moment (I actually got the current tank average up to 36 today) but no rattles. Like Tango I'm getting a bit paranoid waiting for them to start.
  4. That's bizarre, why would they stop the doors on the Lexus open from the inside when locked?? Yep it's one of the things that really irritates me that you can't open the doors when they're locked - even worse that the new IS doesn't do it either My doors open from the inside when they're locked.
  5. Mine does that too... perhaps I should pay the dealer a visit. You've never driven a Mondeo TDCI then I expect. I managed to stall mine at 30mph once! It's something to do with a fly-by-wire throttle and the ECU I think. I used to have to rev the nuts off (well, up to 2000 rpm anyway) it to make sure it wouldn't stall when pulling out of side roads etc. :)
  6. According to my TomTom my last car used to over report the speed by 4-5mph at (a clock indicated) 70mph with the inaccuracy increasing the faster you went. I've tested other cars and found that they too over report by approximately the same margin. In fact it's so consistant I've begun to wonder whether there's some legislation mandating this behaviour.
  7. The url is: http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/traveltax/
  8. I couldn't get my 220d to go anywhere today. I pretty much got stuck when I pulled off of my drive. Hey ho. Just as well I can work from home.
  9. I'd have to agree with this. My car, although still relatively new, is as quiet as the grave.
  10. There has to be a way of doing that, just has to be. :)
  11. I picked up my 220d SE-L on 5th Jan. So far it's been great apart from the fuel consumption (34.3 average) and the 6th gear / low speed problem. It's early days yet of course but I'm hoping as the car loosens up mechanically (it only has 1040 miles on the clock) these things will improve. Of course I hope things don't loosen up so much that I start hearing creaks and rattles. How would I tell when the car was actually built? It was in the showroom and available for 'immediate' delivery when I bought it, so I have no idea how old it actually is.
  12. That'd be a handy feature. I've just about stopped myself from reaching for the 'key' when I park up but now I've started to forget to lock the bloody car! I think the car should realise the key isn't nearby and lock itself after a few minutes or so.
  13. That's how I got the feature on my previous car (a Mondeo 2.0 tdci Ghia X). Lock and unlock the door from the inside 5 times then turn the ignition on and lock and unlock once more and wait for the beep (or something like that). Point is you'd never guess the sequence. It is a crazy situation though :duh:
  14. Does anybody know if it is possible to have the doors automatically lock when driving rather than trying to remember to push the button? Yes I know pushing the button is easy, I'm just lazy... and my last car used to do it and I quite like the feature. :)
  15. I bought my IS220d SE-L on 5th Jan. I've covered just over 1000 miles and the fuel consumption average is 35mpg. Like most here I find 6th gear to be pretty much useless below 2000 rpm (85 ish). My opinion, for what it's worth, is: Fuel consumption is ok for a brand new car. The gearing is too high for 6th. I've been using Esso fuel up until now, but I think I will try BP and see if there is a marked (or any) improvement.
  16. Thanks for the welcomes guys, much appreciated. 600 miles on the new car already :o :)
  17. I'm Simon, new to Lexus ownership (IS220d SE-L as of 5th Jan) and, obviously, new to the club. I'm looking forward to joining in and meeting you all. :)
