  1. Ive got the 1950 pro but AGP on an old 3gig P4 1.5g ram....I can play every game my son buys :winky: 30 FPS is ok, I cant be ars_ed to tweak settings etc, slight slowdown on MTW2 when 5,000 french laying seige however for a sensible answer to your question I would suggest going on this forum http://forums.guru3d.com/
  2. whats the mileage of yours? Is this normal practice for a main dealer? What poor bugger will end up with your gearbox
  3. quick question: where did you put your tent and the luggage....surely not in that poxy boot :winky:
  4. Hi, Do you have Traffic Announcement turned on? If so, try turning it off. If it's this it happens on most radio's with a traffic system. KEITH cheers Keith,I will have to have a look...never did read the manual as for general radio reception..pretty dire, sounds very shallow even with base turned up 04 reg IS200 here CD player is fine however.
  5. every ten minutes or so I get a complete gap in sound on the radio..lasts about half a second but bloody annoying
  6. Im sorry but after the problems ive had I deal directly with the dealer principal and Lexus GB. I too was amazed to find that my 3 year old car had a worn spare? why? The car I purchased had 4 brand new tyres and was an ex lease vehicle. If Lease why use the spare? Clearly the spare had been snaffled from the boot to save money by Lexus. THE SORT OF THING I DID WITH MY OLD ASTRA !!!!!! WHEN I WAS A KID WITH NIL MONEY!! My worry is that if it is common practice to do this what else are they doing to save money :tsktsk:
  7. Paid £9995 for a 2004 IS200 SE with 45k on the clock from Lexus. Having done the rounds I couldnt buy a 3 series with same spec , same year from main dealer unless I forked out 3k on top of this. Had a few Issues but the dealer has come up trumps. If its any consolation my 2.5 year mint Mazda6 actually had a part ex value of below 6K....different cars I know but indicates the state of the 2nd hand market.. The big issue with Lexus is clearly fuel economy and servicing costs.
  8. cant help but think that the new Mondeo looks like a cross between the IS and a Laguna
  9. I just thought I would pop over. As an IS200 owner having previously sampled a 220D for the day I made a few remarks about that fact that i couldnt believe someone had purchased one of these cars with their own money. :shutit: Well Ive got the IS220D 'again' and having driven it for a few more days Ive got some further observations. Performance: It takes some getting used to but is not really that bad. Ive mastered the 'pullout in a hurry in front of oncoming traffic and im going to die scenario' by getting the revs up. Indeed, ive found that giving it some right foot helps the beast around town nicely..on the motorway its a dream..however the thing really doesnt want 6th until 90 does it Also you need a decent trigger finger with that cruise control as the gearbox is set up rather strangely. Clearly the engine is still tight with 5k on the clock and I cant help but think that the tightness of the unit is actually working against the general user experience in the early stages until the user gets used to the car. Indeed it takes a good couple of days to appreciate that this thing actually works...I dont do many miles but clearly it fits a purpose. This vehicle has a loud rattle in right pillar over bumps.....also the shaky rear mirror thing was unsettling at first but got used to it and had a little chuckle having read posts on here. Theres not many of these around my parts but clearly it turns heads, the family love it, the wife wants one and to be honest im tempted to test drive a petrol version. The climate control is spot on without being intrusive (no gale force 8 in your face), the sat nav and general display plus zillions of gadgets are immense. The sound system is unbelievable, full leather seats (with the enhanced leather smell :winky: ,rear camera (what do those lines mean?) the whole cabin experience is actually quite excellent. My point is that if anyone is looking to buy one of these or lease / company vehicle etc...give it a chance, drive it for a few days and perhaps make it work for you.
  10. quick update: The Lexus dealer who I purchased the vehicle from (who previously stated it was normal to have a judder) have agreed to replace the clutch :D I contacted the dealer principal. He had previously sorted the issues I had on purchase and without hesitation has promised to replace the clutch (top man :winky: ) Now the thing is : is this known fault a clutch/flywheel combo thing and should they replace both. or will they settle on the cheapest option and hope i go away!
  11. I think that colour sums up the IS200..some manufacturers have tried to copy the colour and the rest (mazda 6) for example but like chalk and cheese
  12. No..he made a point of discounting the shocks being the problem on mine stating they would make a 'thumping noise' if faulty..hence I wonder if that could be your problem my knocking is still a mystery,Ive got new front ball joints, new discs and pads and Im wondering if its related to the brakes...also a mechanic at my place of work mentioned could be track rod ends? it goes back in to Lexus for 2 days so they can sort
  13. the Lexus mechanic who drove mine ,whilst trying to diagnose my problem, stated a worn /faulty shock absorber makes a noise more like a 'thump '..just a thought ref your noise
  14. I have a similar problem. Mine is from the front right, occurs when going around a left hand bend, over a few bumps and often when going down hill Sometimes It doesnt happen. If I leave the car facing up the drive over night,on a slight incline I can reverse off and drive to work (7 miles)before it slowly kicks in. If I park it facing down the drive it will knock from the start. The knock has a distinctive sound, almost 'metallic' (metal on metal) rather than a thump..sounds like something loose but I cant find anything neither can Lexus...
  15. quick update over the judder Issue: why am I making a bit of a 'deal' over it? I purchased the car from a Lexus dealer and they really should have the means to fix it. Clutch judder is not nice :tsktsk: not on a Vectra, let alone a Lexus Lexus dealer 2 ,who state clutch judder is NOT normal (local and not from where i purchased it) are now stating that they have spoken with Lexus GB and they are happy to strip the clutch and inspect. If however there isnt a fault and the problem is due to wear then I can pay for the labour cost... ouch (theres bound to be wear its got 46k) If fault they will repair under Lexus warranty. Back now to Lexus dealer 1 - remember they stated clutch judder IS 'normal' and live with it. Today ive told them Lexus dealer 2 state its 'not normal'and I want them to fix it ...means travelling again Can anyone tell me if they can actually cure this issue.. .ie new clutch. I cant believe for a minute that these cars rolled off the production line with a known fault that hasnt been properly addressed. Who has an IS200 and DOESNT have clutch judder..or do we all have it?
  16. download a demo of FEAR and see how your graphics cope... quake should be ok for a blast...if thats a radeon 7600 you may struggle big time with most recent games download a few demos for nothing first..will test the card and save you buying something that doesnt work best of luck :winky:
  17. Call of duty 2 is excellent, particulary online as a first person shooter. Medieval 2 Total war is a brilliant strategy game ...look up the reviews on amazon.com or similar whats your graphics card like? you may need some grunt in that new computer... for example I have a P4 3.0 meg with 1.5 gig of ram,(a few years old) recently purchased a £200 radeon card and still struggles on medieval 2 company of heroes is also good value
  18. I dont think any car is immune to a head gasket failure. I recall speaking to a lady who owned a Merc SLK and was quoted £4000 for the job by the main dealer....that was in 1999 as someone who has blown a few (head gaskets) in my time Ive never had a 'mega' escape of coolant, let alone enough to interfere with the electrics
  19. yep....first gear pull away...bring the clutch up..slight judder before it bites..only way to get round it is heavy revs or whack the foot off the clutch quick..which makes for a lumpy ride in traffic... now resorting to leaving a massive gap in front when in a slow moving queue so you can toddle along in 1st/2nd without having to dip that clutch.. strange thing is that on some occasions its sweet as a nut.. lets be honest you should be able to crawl along/pull away without even thinking about it..21st century isnt it
  20. quick update..the dealer i purchased the vehicle from state clutch judder is normal as i previously said. (indeed some people on here have agreed-known fault etc) Fair enough....but I didnt purchase a Lexus to judder myself to work :tsktsk: . I thought I could get used to it...giving it revs etc but I cant...im tall...sit well back and down as low as the seat can go......and that slight judder is beginning to niggle Just been to another (more local)Lexus dealer who have driven the vehicle and state, although slight judder felt, its not normal (hurray). Now im confused. Two technicians stating different things. Im hoping to get this sorted under the extended manufacturers warranty (which can be done at any Lexus dealer) so my local dealer are looking into it. so heres hoping
  21. clearly a unmarked police vehicle..the camera in view was standard over here for several years, still in use i think.(presume they had similar over there) Looks like he's strapped his own camera to the dash. He holds off on the blues until he gets right up their chuff..firstly you can see the 'im not moving mate' response from some drivers in front, then the 'crikey its blue lights' dive over type response thats all too typical. you can also see the odd vehicle ahead of the target (subject)vehicle braking when he applies his blues, clearly if he did it any earlier it would be like the parting of the red sea and everything would slow down to much for him. There is absolutely no other reason why people dive out the way like that. I could be talking tosh however
  22. I had a IS220d for the day last week. To be honest I was gobsmacked at the lack of power / lack of smoothness and the engine clatter at idle. First gear pullaways were a nightmare (lumpy),second gear pullaways from rolling resulted in two stalls on major roundabouts. Slow moving traffic was very uncomfortable. At 70/80 it found its comfort zone but select 6th and suddenly the car was groaning like i dont know what. It still didnt seem comfortable at 80 in 6th so why have a 6th? The engine just didnt seem in tune with the car.Does anyone actually 'buy' these cars, i presume they are mostly company or lease vehicles. The totally unnerving thing was that at work, amongst others i drive an astra sri cdti. These things retail at about 17 k. This thing absolutely puts the IS220d to shame in relation to engine performance/response.(very quick) You can floor it all day long and the fuel gauge doesnt move much, brilliant fun, exceptional performance... but its a vauxhall and things still fall off,and strange warning lights come on..and go off before i returned the 220d i stuck in a couple of gallons just to get the slug back to the dealer. The gauge didnt move and likewise the computer...so much so i thought the pump hadnt delivered any fuel, drove 35 miles with the dash telling me I had 0 miles left.
  23. theres a very respectable looking blonde lady down our way who drives a sky blue merc with MILF as the plate :winky:
  24. thanks can you explain further..is it the traction control causing the judder? so should be cured if i switch it off...Ill nip out later and put that one to the test......
